I haven't kept up with every clubs transfers and I'm not usually one to make estimations. I'm sorry to have offended you and your superior math skills. I shall retreat now.

 don't be so soft. I'm just saying that when we have signed 2 players, numerically speaking there's only two more possible positions behind us. Teams that have signed 1 player and teams that have signed none.

I'd like to see how many teams have spent more than us though. £60m is no small change.

Didn't LvG actually say that Herrera and Shaw had been lined up by the club beforehand and he gave the approval because they were players he liked? That would certainly imply that they weren't actually on the list of player he presented to the club.

YES. IT WOULD, WOULDN'T IT?

Glad it's not just me who saw it that way. Can you take over for me?

See Giggs comments from the ReUnited press conference where he said that the evaluation of squad and drawing up of targets was done in conjunction with him and scouts/Woodward etc.. LVG confirmed meeting the chief scout as well.

Also, if he wanted 2 + X amount of players before the WC what did he need time to evaluate existing players after the WC for? Doesn't add up. Either he knew the needs and had targets in mind beforehand or he didn't.

Let's take Rojo transfer and interest as a example. LVG would have mentioned needing a Left footed or Left sided CB for his new system and then from our scouting reports Rojo would have been evaluated amongst options. Obviously he has last say but this whole business that he can determine targets in isolation doesn't make sense unless ofcourse it is players he has worked with already or just quality top notch players.

That's exactly what he said.

I'd rather pay the extra 5m or so for his release clause and try to get 10m for Nani, that way he's off the wages as well. Or just keep Nani as an option for the wing, he was after one of the few who looked decent on saturday. This way we're giving away Nani while still paying his wages.
Ok my bad Rojo's release clause is ~24m pound, we're willing to pay 16m if report is true, so it's 8m pound, and Nani is on 5m/year, it isn't much different. 2 weeks to go and we're here fighting over few millions difference in price tag, oh ok perfectly make sense.

I would like us to keep Nani and give them Anderson. Seen it has been reported some Places, so hope it's him.

Indeed he did.

good deal if true. We are clearly overpaying to get him, but if he fits the criteria and LvG really thinks he has level to play for us, let it be.

Hopefully he can keep his WC form

They can have them both as far as I'm concerned. Neither have a future at United.

There's nothing to take over, it's a non argument. LvG actually directly told us that Herrera and Shaw were lined up already and he gave his approval. Afaik we've been aware of this since the start.

I'd hate to see us paying a ransom.

Kidnapper: "Give us £10m, or the kid gets it!"
Us: "Would you take £8m and Anderson?"

According to you. Van Gaal already said age doesn't matter to him. Why does being 23 mean you cannot be a good player right now? The guy just played in a world cup final.

Well that's Van Gaals opinion. Sir Alex's opinion is/was very different to Van Gaals. We need a player in defence who's got the big game experiences, played in Europe, been there, got the t-shirt. We have enough blooming young players especially in defence! I can't comment on whether the lad is any good because I've only ever seen him play in the World Cup and that's really not a good way of evaluating a players quality.

If only this place had a "Favourite" button. :)

So we aren't willing to bid £50 million or offer him just over £120k a week in wages? What the feck is wrong with us.

What exactly did we think we'd be getting him for, a £30m offer and less then 6 figures in wages? Woodward deserved the sack last summer but okay, it was his first time. After this summer I'd be amazed if he's still in charge of transfers at United.

What a shit tweet. If we wanted De vrij then he'd be playing for us.

LVG can't rate him that highly but I've got to admit I was very impressed with him in the WC and would of liked him here
