Not a bad article in the Mirror
The problem is, us as fans in small numbers cannot really show how we feel, but it will take news paper articles to get the picture to Woodward and the Glazers.
It will take these articles for some fans to also realise this also.

We can compare our spending to the likes or Real, Barca, City, Chelsea, PSG etc, and now with FFP in force, we could and should be the biggest spenders in Europe.
But then we have fans spouting the same rubbish, we don't buy stars, we make them. Varela, Powell, Henrique, Buttner, Zaha, Bebe, Obertan, Diouf, Tosic...

These players cost a total of 49m, and so far, nothing from some, others have left, and the ones that haven't will more than likely leave without doing anything.
We don't buy stars, we buy a lot of mediocre players that we get rid off for a loss a few years later

Not sure this players cost a combined 49 million to begin with. And we made a profit on Buttner and Tosic atleast iirc and some money on others.

Besides if you are listing these guys then might as well list Jones, Smalling, Rafael, Chicharito etc.... and that's even discounting Januzaj.

Pogba wasn't a star when he left.
Wilson hasn't done anything yet
Januzaj. Fair enough, but that doesn't make a team does it
You've included players who clearly wouldn't be able to make their way into the side yet as a point we can't make stars.
Pogba was a brilliant player when he left Fergie just flat refused to play him, if he wasn't why did he find it so easy to walk into a midfield that was far superior to ours?
Wilson WILL be a star, there's absolutely no doubt in my mind nor anyone's who's watched him player more than twice.

You've carefully selected players there and you know it! Include Varela but not Januzaj...

He didn't select the players, he responded to someones post who included them.
Also Wilson may not be a star its not guaranteed, he has an awful lot of talent ahead of him, he may not even play much at United.

Its all fine and well saying Smalling and Jones, but then why are we looking to buy defenders. It's because these players are squad players and nothing more. They would struggle to get in most top clubs around Europe.
Same for Hernandez, he had a very good breakout season, but most fans know he lacks a good all round game.

These players you are listing a decent/good players and nothing more. They are not the players that will win you the title. That is what I am getting at

We didn't make Pogba.
The other 2 are not stars just yet, Januzaj getting close of course.
We did a hell of a lot to his game, if we are going to use Varela as a point of not making stars then why shouldn't Pogba be used? The other two will be, no doubting that.

Did he? Regardless its irrelevant, he's still making the point based off just those players and not those who have actually made it.

I'm not saying we didn't add to Pogba game or aid his development, but to distract from the fact he was already one of the best french academy prospects before he even came to United well enough said, on top of that we didn't let him in the first team so we didn't make him a star.

As for Wilson, it is not a guarantee, I think he can definitely be a star for us, but it is not a given, just look at Wellbeck who has to play out of position due to the players ahead of him. Wilson has it tough, and its up to the manager to bring him through. Of course injuries can hamper him too (Will Keane)

Wilson may become a star, and I'd be over the moon if he did, I am not saying he will or he wont. I am just saying out of the current squad, only really has Januzaj burst onto the scene, and people look at him as something special.
You could compare Wilson to Rossi. We all expected big things from him, but the league is at a point now, where it's hard to intergrate youngsters, and it showed when Rossi was sold

You don't have a coherent point tbh. Just listed out random names in that list.

And we are buying defenders because we just have 3 first team defenders right now playing 3 at the back and all have injury histories. Young players take time to develop and have inconsistencies on the way or you are buying a readymade commodity anyway. And we've won titles with Cleverley as a starter as well and these guys plus Welbeck etc.. playing a crucial role.

Is Luke Shaw a star ?

I think he means more about kids bought in, not ones coming through the academy. That is one hell of a lot of wasted money.
The point has already been make we made profit off those sold so hardly money wasted. Half of those players haven't even had the chance to prove themselves yet and we are already writing them off as wasted? Still no Jones, Smalling, Pogba, Hernandez, Januzaj on the list, if you're going to make that point at least make it balanced.

OK that's fine, but half of those players included on the list haven't even been given a chance to shine yet and we are already writing them off, Varela has a very good chance of making it, Henriquez will be a profit, hardly wasted money.

Is Luke Shaw a star? No, but he obviously will be one. We won't make him into that star, we may speed up his development, but it won't be us who made him what he is already.

LVG played 352 with Holland...Why? Because he said they wasn't defensively good enough, and so he brings that system here to.
Smalling and Jones are good players, but they are not stars,
Cleverley and Welbeck are good players aswell, but they are not up there with the best players in the world. We need these players to help win titles of course, but you cant rely on them to be the go to players which do win you titles

Is Nick Powell going to make it? United signing a player from league 1 or 2 sounds weird.

If his attitude is right he has a decent chance for me. We bought him as a 18 year old with many clubs chasing him as he we was starting for Crewe.

SAF rated him highly (Mentioned him as a Scholes replacement, him and Januzaj as future certainties in the first team and threw him in straight away as well) but since then Injury breaks at wrong times and SAF being gone have stalled him a bit despite a good loan for the first half at Wigan last season.

This pre season like last one could have been his chance to impress a new manager but he was missing with injuries apparently both times.

You should really be questioning who thought buying the players on that list was a good idea. It isn't even that they were brilliant somewhere else. They are rubbish and we went out and bought them. Somebody has terrible judgement.

Varela and co may make it, I am not saying they will or wont, but like most players these days, they wont be given the opportunity to try

So why aren't we considering Smalling, Jones, Hernandez, Januzaj etc on this list yet we are happy to go back to add Diouf and Overran, players like Varela haven't even had a chance to shine yet but they've been included. My point being this is such a lopsided point to make when we're clearly cherry picking.

I didn't include them because I consider them squad players. It's not that hard

So then what are the guidelines to make a star? Apparently we can't include players that have come through our academy, we can't include players who have played well elsewhere, we are dismissing players who haven't been quality before we signed them, what are we left with? Please show me an example.

This is exactly what happens with football, you look at Barca's, City's, Madrid's, Bayern's set up and they will be exactly the same, a lot of players purchased who haven't made it.

You can cherry pick players at ANY top level club and make the exact same argument.

BEST transfer bit of business so far.

IF this is true, I would be shocked if we didn't bring in at least 1 quality midfielder seeing that we are already short in numbers over there with Carrick out injured and Ando as good as being on Mars.
