So after the deadlines where everyone said vidal would be a united player have passed, all the rags have just decided to stop posting shit about it. Seems really quiet in here.

Did you watch the game on Saturday?

We swapped Hernandez for Nani to use a back four and two man midfield with Nani and Januzaj on the wings.

I'd say reverting to wingers in our very first game is a clear sign that we will use wingers.

I'm not sure if we've done that because we wanted to or because we were forced to. Using Januzaj as a wing back was a big stretch. I'm not sure Van Gaal is about to dump 3-5-2.

Having said that, he did admit he prefers 4-3-3 but already said he doesn't have the wingers for it. If he brings one in it'll have nothing to do with Nani. So again, if we're letting him go, it doesn't mean anything.

If this is true and we are happy losing another CM option must mean we are confident of securing a new CM signing.

I don't think Van Gaal sees him as a CM. The fact he put him on for Herrera and then dropped Mata back in midfield and Fellaini in behind Rooney said all you need to know.

You stay classy, Bayern.
I don't dislike Bayern, but these comments from their hierarchy on Reus border on disrespect to another club. Having said that I'll have no sympathy for Dortmund if he joins Bayern. You're asking for trouble if your players have release clauses.

I think he was used in that way as we didn't have any forward options. Fellaini can win flick ons etc when chasing a late goal. It was a last ditch attempt.

We had Kagawa, a much more natural 10 than Fellaini. He chose Fellaini as a 10 over him.

Taking Herrara off for Kagawa is a like for like change.

Bringing on Fellaini meant a change in approach from us to attempt something different for an equaliser.

if LVG was to start Fellaini, it wouldn't be as a number 10, he'd stick him in a midfield 2 imo. Hopefully it's the end of him anyways.

It's not definitive that he doesn't see Fellaini in midfield, in mid week Fellaini played in the CM role, but his goal came after we hoofed it up to him.
Considering we were chasing the match LVG probably saw this as an opportunity to repeat the same thing hence pushing Fellaini further forward.

The problem is, us as fans in small numbers cannot really show how we feel, but it will take news paper articles to get the picture to Woodward and the Glazers.
It will take these articles for some fans to also realise this also.

We can compare our spending to the likes or Real, Barca, City, Chelsea, PSG etc, and now with FFP in force, we could and should be the biggest spenders in Europe.
But then we have fans spouting the same rubbish, we don't buy stars, we make them. Varela, Powell, Henrique, Buttner, Zaha, Bebe, Obertan, Diouf, Tosic...

These players cost a total of 49m, and so far, nothing from some, others have left, and the ones that haven't will more than likely leave without doing anything.
We don't buy stars, we buy a lot of mediocre players that we get rid off for a loss a few years later

Is Nick Powell going to make it? United signing a player from league 1 or 2 sounds weird.

Don't include Januzaj, Pogba and Wilson in there, that might hurt your point about us not making stars...

We didn't make Pogba.
The other 2 are not stars just yet, Januzaj getting close of course.

City highlights why it's so important to have a DoF.

Got their main targets and then signed Silva, Aguero, Kompany to new 5yr contracts.

I think Comolli is out of a job.

To be honest, I don't think a DoF is at all necessary/important.

Having seen weaknesses in his squad exposed as United began their Barclays Premier League campaign with a 2-1 home defeat by Swansea City, Van Gaal will be relieved by the impending resolution over Rojo, whom he regards as the best available candidate to play on the left-hand side of a three-man central defence.

Van Gaal still hopes to sign another central defender, but, having missed out on Mats Hummels, who is staying at Borussia Dortmund, and Thomas Vermaelen, who has joined Barcelona, he faces more frustration over Mehdi Benatia, of AS Roma. United, as well as Chelsea, have a strong interest in Benatia, but Bayern Munich have now emerged as favourites to sign the 27-year-old after losing Javi Martinez to injury.

United continue to explore the possibility of signing Angel di Maria for a club-record transfer fee, as well as a huge wage outlay, but so far there is no indication that the Argentina midfield player would be willing to leave Real Madrid for a club who cannot offer Champions League football this season.
