This is the sort of rationale that landed us with dross like Fellaini for nearly £30m.

Don't get me wrong, I've never watched Rojo, but the reports about him on here aren't exactly glowing.
it s still nice of you to slag him off so early...

Dude i agree with you but what are we supposed to do?, we are not willing to spend the big money needed to get top players in so we have little choice.

Haven't slagged the lad off once. I've quite clearly said that I'm reading various reports that he's not up to much, but I haven't made a judgement about him, because I haven't seen him play. Get your facts straight.

Clearly we are willing to spend big money though, it just seems we're hell-bent on spending it on the wrong players (Fellaini, Mata (good player but not needed)).

I think it's more that we don't have the pulling power. Looks like Rojo is third choice after Hummels and Vermaelen. If we end up with third choice players in all the areas we need to strengthen, we'll end up with third rate results.

But he played at LB. What's his natural role?

From what I've read he is primarily a CB who can play as a LB if needed.

This is the key for me. We need quick defenders for this system.

True and in truth I think we need more pace, power and athleticism all over the pitch.

Swap Brazil for Argentina and we've got the exact same description for Kleberson.

Balls to it, we need a defender and I'll take anyone right now

I agree that him playing in a WC final is not a guarantee of success but I am just trying to look at the positive aspects of what I saw over the 7 games.

I don't think the Glazers are the problem to be honest. We've spend roughly £120m over the past year, we've just somehow managed to get very, very little to show for it in terms of improving our team. We need to get our priorities straight in the transfer market.

Isn't the problem that we currently have too many average players?
Loads of problems, our defenders are barely average and there is hardly any of them is the biggest problem. More average back there will improve us, especially considering he's youngish so will improve. Midfield and wings has too much average so we have to get rid and then sign quality. Up front there's just too many players and probably too many quality players so it leaves us unbalanced.

roll on the next 2 weeks. Even if we don't sign anyone, at least we can stop hoping and sitting on this thread.

Forgive me....I'm a natural pessimist

That's weird because they're putting up the money, it's Woodward and the manager who aren't delivering the players. They have invested £120m on players already since last summer and everything looks like that will increase by the time this window shuts. Compare the players Barce and Real have bought with similar funds in the past year compared to ours, it's a complete joke.

Its more that we aren't willing to pay the money needed for top players imo. I don't buy all this "we are not in the Champions League so they won't come" bollocks, City managed to get top players when they weren't in the CL and they are a much smaller club than us, yes they paid big money but Woody said we have unlimited money and can buy whoever we want (yeah right).

We are desperate for a another midfielder and arguably the best in the business seems willing to come here yet we won't do anything about it (Vidal), why?, just think about that for a minute.

Its all propaganda coming out of the club, we hear it every year but we still end up missing out on most of the top players we are in for.

We don't want to spend big money, its obvious to me. If we somehow end up with the likes of Vidal and DiMaria etc then i will be the first to hold my hands up and say i was wrong.

How do you know this?

Well it's not the Glazers is it, the sum of £120m signed off from last summer proves this.

Or maybe we've spent £120m and they think that is enough? It proves absolutely nothing

And so it should.

Someone is lying to us and taking the piss. We keep hearing world class players want to come and that we have an unlimited budget - well what the feck is happening, why are we struggling to sign anyone. At this rate we will get to deadline and it will be the old woody scatter gun where we bid for anyone with a half decent reputation.

If it all goes tits up, we need to protest. It's not that we lose / play toss, I couldn't care about that. It's the lies and the smugness that us fans will keep paying very good money to witness our club being ridiculed.

If there is no money, if top players no longer want to come then just tell us. I will still support the club I love but at least we will know where are expectations should be set. We keep hearing about the Ronaldo's and Bales, then end up shite.

The way the club is being sold to the fans is a disgrace, we keep telling everyone we are hung like a horse, but pull our pants down and it's like seeing Maradona in the shower.
