Rojo wants Manchester and Manchester need defenders. Get over there, slap some cash in someone's hand and bring this slightly weird dude back over here.

Oh dear, not liking this back and forth between Sporting and Doyen. It can't be good for us if we are the so called 'foreign club' spoken of. And I'm guessing there's no way we can structure a deal that sees Sporting and Doyen both getting their just cuts without us overpaying for him?

Saints who were the laughing stock of the summer, selling all of their good players have now reinforced more than we have. Nice one woody.

If this is a third party ownership problem, Doyen must be willing to sell at the quoted 20m Euros right? Meaning they would get about 15m Euros, giving Sporting only 5m Euros. 75% Doyen/25% Sporting ownership.

If Sporting say his release clause is 30m Euros, that means they would recieve 7.5m Euros from the sale.

Why not just pay 15m to Doyen and 7.5m to Sporting and have done with it? 22.5m Euros is still a good deal IMO.

Am I getting this right? Or, have I missed something?

I think you'll find, we were/are the biggest laughing stock again.

"Biggest club in the world" "Have unlimited funds" "Watch this space"

Sign no one! Except a defender, who was in the pipeline for the last 7 months and is now injured. And a midfielder, which has taken a year.

Agreed 100% starting to wonder if Woody and co realise you cant sit still....the tide wont carry you over the line, you need to aggressively and actively get the one up on your rivals. Look at Barca/Madrid always competing for the best players and getting them.

If its LVG that has decided not to act then hes an even bigger fool, the PL is NOTHING like the leagues he has competed in before we dont have a monopoly anymore, there are 5-6 teams fighting for 4 places and 3-4 teams fighting for one place at the top.

Im worried, very worried for the coming season.

Oh crap, finally back from holiday! I can't believe I missed watching the space. What on earth have I missed? Oh, that's right, nothing.

Other than Tadic rest of their business seems ordinary tbh.
Forster is a huge upgrade on Boruc, and they will definitely buy another defender. Long is a very good player who will fill the lambert gap. Bertrand is good enough and they haven't spent much whilst pocketing near 100m

I don't think this transfer window has been anywhere near as bad as some of the moaning. We've spent £60m on 2 great talents and we've got in a top class manager. We spent £40 million on Mata who can finally bed into the team in his favourite role. Plus there is still 2 weeks left!!

Yes it's not been ideal, farm from it and I have been really frustrated but the moaning on here and other places is horrific. It's not half, or even a quarter as bad as last Summer's shambles.

I think it's been so long since Shaw was signed just the pure frustration of no new news has made some of you go into meltdown paid way to early and wrongly in my opinion.

We should all be buzzing for the new season.

And also, have some bloody patience. It's not ideal having Van Gaal come in late July so this is why we may be taking so long. The scarring of last Summer is fuelling some embarrassing comments ridden with panic in here.

If it is Woodward (Personally I think it is) get your head around this.

LVG is making us look half decent at the moment despite the lack of signings....Can you imagine what the situation would be like if Moyes was still here?!

We have got rid of 5 players, signed 2 and nothing has been addressed.

I don't care who are manager is, we are still in the shitter here!

Did I also mention one of our signings took a year to complete and that our other signing is injured?

Chelsea and Arsenal have enjoyed far superior summers to us. City remain stronger than us. Liverpool have signed a lot of first team players too. We're still behind and that is the concern, breaking back into the top four will not be easy with the current squad.

Is it a coincidence that all those clubs have managers that have been in their posts at minimum a year? I don't think so. Identifying targets early and moving on them is not as simple as some of us want it to be. We will sign a player or two and all will be well again. We'll be salivating over our 'studward' once again

Two of our midfield three, Mata and Herrera are absolutely top class. But to get the best out of both of them, I strongly believe we need a dominant, dynamic box to box player to support them. Fletcher in his pomp would've been ideal but he's not the presence he once was. Carrick is quality but he's getting on and I feel we need someone who covers more ground and is more dominant.

Couldn't give two shits about missing out on Kroos for example. He's top quality but not the player we need. It was him or Ander for me. And I will take the one who is desperate to play for United, every single time. Kroos is probably a level above but he doesn't have the engine or work rate Ander does.

Strootman and Vidal are exactly the sort of player that would have a catalyzing effect on the rest of the team. I'd take Khedira too. Not too fussed about Carvalho, seems too specialized to me. People will shudder when I say this, but Jordan Henderson is another that would complete our midfield. I laughed when Liverpool paid 20M for him, but Rodgers has played him in exactly the right way to maximize the impact of others around him.

We were never ''behind them'' in my eyes. Last year was a feck up with the whole managerial situation. 2013 we were miles ahead of them all. We can take em all on. We have some shit hot players up top. Plus, it will take time so who cares if we finish behind a couple of them teams but get back to playing good Football and challenging.

I sort of like Shane Long, and they did need a backup 9 for Pelle, but 12 Million Pounds for one is a bit of a waste.

Koeman did end the season at Feyenoord playing a 3-5-2, so maybe if Rodriguez is leaving they'll be so short of wide attackers that they just play it, but they aren't exactly plush at center back with Lovren leaving either.

You have to think they could have gotten 90 percent of the production they'll get from Young (goal every 3-4 starts) from a cheap foreigner banging in goals in a bad league, for a 2-3 million pounds, then spent the 10 saved on a proper young talent.

I am with you on this.

The issue for most on here is that Woody implied a big signing (the "watch this space" comment) and because the media haven't a clue what is going on we have been teased with the likes of Vidal, D Maria, Cuandrado, and more recently with Rojo, benatia and Blind since the transfer window opened.

I personally think a very big transfer will happen and that will cause everything to fall in place. I would not be surprised if PSG start it all off by selling one or two expensive players, which allows them to get Di Maria, Madrid will then buy Falco for the money and the ball gets rolling. Other teams then have the funds to buy the replacements they want so they can release the players that teams like us want.

If we can't get what we want, or are unwilling to be taken to the cleaners again, then I would take what we have now and not buy for the sake of it. If that happens it is going to be a long, but interesting season.
