Fecks sake, thought the downtime was transfer-related.

A month ago I would have turned my nose up at Rojo in disgust. Now I'm tingling just at the thought of a signing

This is nonsense. Even without any signings we could easily go the first 8 games unbeaten. If we do get a player or 2 in by the end of the window, there's plenty of time for them to bed in to the team.
We finished 7th last season. We've lost 3 defenders, our best midfielder is out for 10 weeks. It's a joke that our business hasn't been done by now.

On the Rojo rumour, I'd be quite happy with that signing.
I thought he looked very capable in the world cup (never heard of him before then)
Playing left back he offered a decent threat going forward, and from corners he won the odd header.
But after doing some research, he plays CB quite often also, so a versatile player

Meh SSN on the wind up now too.
Why did they have to say United and other clubs, they know they have no concrete news on United specifically *sigh*
Sucks being the most popular club I guess, all the media outlets will use you

We had a shit manager, those 3 players were on the decline, fast, our best midfielder is one Herrera.

It's a nothing statement. What else do SSN ever do except look into transfers involving Utd and other clubs!?

If there's nothing scrolling on the Breaking News banner, they've nothing particularly interesting to tell you. At most it will be the Rojo bid 'according to Portuguese sources.'

Okay investigating big United transfer news on the first day of SSN channel revamp.

I didn't say it wasn't mate, I agree we should have made more signings by now. What I was disagreeing with was the notion that it's now too late to make them, which it obviously isn't.

Oh, and there's no way Carrick is our best midfielder.

We'd all love to see all the signings we need wrapped up by July 1st. But is it not reasonable to take into account that this was not possible thus Summer for rather obvious reasons? And is it not even more reasonable to stay calm when the first three games we have before the window shuts are very winnable with the team we currently have at our disposal?

No. Woodward needs to go. The club is an embarrassment. Why can't we do business like other clubs etc etc...

Couldn't agree more.

I'm pretty sure eds ready to go, I think LVG is taking his time in accessing the players.

With you on this, getting quite annoyed with it especially after all the grand promises from Woodward and the club.

As usual the quotes happened around season ticket renewal time and since absolutely feck all has happened without even a hint of a siggetion towards anything but sub par players that wont get us anywhere near the top of the table.

Cue last min cash ins for Blind and Rojo.

The difference between us going for Caudrado and Barca is that Barca have already sold high profile players in Sanchez and Fabregas and have got Rakitic, Vermearlen and Saurez to name a few. Caudrado is a luxury for them and one they will end up getting whilst we scrape the barrel for whatever player we decide isnt too injured/expensive/old/young its a joke an utter joke.

Yeah I meant to say bar Herrera.

If United want a player - but he prefers a move to Barcelona, there's not a lot the club can do. He's Columbian so if he (and probably his family) prefer a move to Spain its not hard to see why.

Its encouraging that we're in for the best players finally, rather than actively shopping at the second level. This is not a case of being outbid by other clubs, nor not wanting to pay the fee - its a very good player having a choice to join two very big clubs - one of which probably offers a lifestyle in a place his family will feel more comfortable given that he is spanish speaking.

The suggestion seems to be that players can be tied up quickly to avoid this happening. That's all well and good where it works, but its naive to think it'll work everytime. Players will be well aware of interest from other clubs for months before the summer via agents. They can then wait and see what transpires and take their time. Rushing in and putting deadlines on things early on is fine where it works but its just as likely the players says "I know you're interested, thanks for the offer and I'll get back to you later". Keeping options open, expecially when you're playing at the world cup is a no brainer.

Actually, all of the season tickets had already been sold by the time he did that interview, but why let facts get in the way of a nice rant.

how can you asses something you don't have? a left-footed CB or a functioning midfield for example?

That I can agree with.
Vidal and a cb should be bought no question and IMO should have been bought by now, but I'm willing to wait till the transfer window shuts before flipping out...last summer took a lot out of me.

Fine keep the fans who have just forked out hundreds of pounds happy. Since his fmaous "watch this space" interview weve been patiently waiting and so far I have not been hanging onto those words to only see Blind and Rojo be linked concretely with us.

I rely on your optimism, don't fall apart on me yet! ;)

Were you trying to spell as many names wrong as possible with this post?

How do you cope with being a Utd fan? It must be so awful for you.

Part of the frustration in the inactivity is not knowing whether it's down to Woodward trying to do a Levy on it and in the process damaging our chances, or LVG not having decided what he wants to do yet, or most worryingly, that they think we don't need much more to compete. It looks to me very much like we gambled on getting at least one of Hummels and Vermaelen and now we're really on the back foot. When you think how many top sides would like a centre half we're coming to the stage where we'll end up really overpaying for one just so we don't go into the season as light as we are at present.
