Brendan Rodgers: “We proved last season that we can handle the pressure of a title run-in."

errrr....ok brenton course you did.

Not the first time he's embarrassed himself this summer with his gob, liverpool need to keep tighter reign.

shut your gob feckwit and get back to shagging your son's bird

So you've written him off because of the tour but want to ignore the opinions of people who have been watching him develop for the last few seasons? Then you have the cheek to call other posters deluded?

What?

I've watched him develop - i've said that many times!

If he comes good - great. I have my doubts - whats feckin wrong with that?

Whats so wrong with havin a different opinion too?

The ganging up here - just for the sake of it, is tacky to say the least. Welcome aboard!

I agree. Both are potentially first teamers IMO but we need to see more of them at Premier League level.

You've lost the plot pal, you're embarrassing yourself a bit here.

When did I hype up Keane as some sort of world beater? I said he has potential, as I've seen from his loan spells, u21 England games and the way he's adapted to centre half from being a full back in the academy. Blackett on the other hand has done nothing of note in two loan spells and the only thing you're basing your opinion on is about four halves worth of pre season football. I think both have potential, but equally both have a lot to learn, and will need more Prem football before they can be properly judged.

In your last post you spoke of Rio at 19 being much better. He was indeed, but he was also the best centre half this country has seen in decades. Had you even heard of Vidic at 20? Thiago Silva? Benatia? Carvalho? The answer is no, because most centre backs don't set the world alight as teenagers, take longer to mature and reach the heights in their mid to late 20s.

What's more deluded, saying both Keane and Blackett have potential but a lot to learn (me) or slating Keane and hyping Blackett based on a few halves of pre season football (you)? And don't make assumptions on how much I've watched players when you haven't a clue.

Not impressed by the opening sentence Warm, but impressed by the rest of it.

Good post man!

A lot of us that watch youth football have thought Thorpe was the most talented cb in the reserves. Keane's reputation rose due to his England performances (scoring goals) and going out on loan. He's also taller than Thorpe which helps his reputation for a future cb spot. Thorpe took forever to get a loan deal and when he did was hit with injuries. Thorpe may be shorter, but I have always found him the more solid defender and the better distributor from the back. It's a shame he didn't get to go on tour.

Did he allegedly do that?

Oh & that line: “We proved last season that we can handle the pressure of a title run-in."

I think common sense would dictate otherwise. He clearly rates the player highly and he is very much available.

How would it go?

LVG: "Di Maria is a world class winger"

Ed: "so you want him then?"

LVG: "No"

"Great player but I'd rather spend the quoted £55m and huge wages on a midfielder and defender."

Genius from him there.

What would failing to handle the pressure have been like then? It was basically theirs if they beat Chelsea!

That assumes there is only £55 million to spend. Talk from the club suggests otherwise - he can get pretty much what he needs, or so we are led to believe.

He clearly rates the player, obviously feels we need a winger (hence the comment in the first place) and the winger he chooses to talk about is available.

I agree, when a player like this comes up (doesn't happen very often) you've gotta go for him!

You just cant help yourself with handing out another burst of digs eh?

Yeah - & i'm irrational?!

I couldnt give a shite what you think to be honest - considering your holier than thou plateau you've placed yourself on, generalising my time on here!

Oh great, another emotional response. You forgot to add emoticons though.

It really is Deja - vu isn't it. Sunday, and we're thinking, this must be the week we take some action, but maybe we won't again.

If we don't see any urgency in getting stuff done before August, why would we see any the first game as being any kind of cut off, with 2 weeks after that.
The last day will be asilly one again.

Is anyone else intrigued how the 3-4-1-2 would work though? If we suddenly buy a winger, we probably won't use it after all, and the idea of Mata, Rooney and VP playing together in their best positions would go straight away.

The things about Di Maria is, yes he's a great player, but he just doesn't fit the 5-3-2 we're trying to play.

Actually, on second thoughts, he's better in central midfield isn't he?

LVG has stated that we're only playing a 5-3-2 because of the players he has available right now. Sign some quality out wide and we might see a 4-3-3.

Yeah this is the most perverse thinking I've sign this summer.

Why would we sign players to play a 3-5-2 when Van Gaal has already said he'd prefer to play a 4-3-3 if he had the players for it.

Sign some quality our wide and sell a couple of forward players and then we might see the 4-3-3, IMO.

I know what you guys mean, but IMO, Vidal and Di Maria would cost approximately the same amount, maybe Di Maria a bit more. But the thing is, Vidal is a necessity for us, while Di Maria isn't needed as much.

Eh, I know it's being a bit narrow-minded. but I'd rather sign a player who fits our current system perfectly rather than sign a player that we have to change our formation to. Just my opinion.

Why would it have to be one or the other? I mean, we'll probably get neither, but why the assumption that signing Di Maria would mean no Vidal and vice versa?

Thats just pathetic. There's no way his name sold that amount of shirts. That paper is just like a Nazi propaganda machine speiling lies & deceit on a daily basis..

600.000 kits sold in a few minutes, eh..? Watson, fetch my magnifying glass.
