They can have Cuadrado we can have Di Maria.

We have good options in that RWB spot anyway with Rafael, Valencia and Young.

I know what you guys mean, but IMO, Vidal and Di Maria would cost approximately the same amount, maybe Di Maria a bit more. But the thing is, Vidal is a necessity for us, while Di Maria isn't needed as much.

Eh, I know it's being a bit narrow-minded. but I'd rather sign a player who fits our current system perfectly rather than sign a player that we have to change our formation to. Just my opinion.

I'm with you there; assuming we can only sign one of them.

Although I'm not sure LVG would want to go the entire season playing with just the one system. He has said that if we start losing with three at the back, we can switch to the 4-3-3. It would be great to have that flexibility with Di Maria, who can play out wide and in a midfield three.

How is Valencia in any way shape or form a "good option" for RWB?

How does no one see that the Barca, Vermaelen, 600k shirts thing was a joke?

Bloody hell.

not hopping aboard the Di Maria express here but if Young can do a decent job as a wingback, why couldn't Di Maria do the same? just out of curiosity...isn't his tracking back/workrate etc, what earned him plaudits at Madrid? I mean he's genuinely a great player, but no doubt he's going to get outshined by Ronaldo and Bale in the offensive department....in my eyes his defensive ability is what set him apart, not to take anything away from his offensive prowess.

Is anyone else intrigued how the 3-4-1-2 would work though? If we suddenly buy a winger, we probably won't use it after all, and the idea of Mata, Rooney and VP playing together in their best positions would go straight away.

The suggestion was that three at the back was as a result of having no suitable wide players.

At the end if the day it's up to the manager and I trust him to make the right decisions. If he goes for a player he obviously has an idea if what he wants to do.

Agreed.

Ok, If everyone would just have a look at the twitter account that posted it, you will se that it has an extra S in it and is a fake account.

Because Young's obviously the better player. :wenger:

He could play wingback and be better in it than Young, but why in godsname would we spend £55m for that whilst we have also spend £30m to get Shaw who would be playing that exact same position.

If we want to play 3-4-1-2 than we have got the players already for the lwb position, Shaw and Young, no need to spend another £55m and get another one, that would unbalance our team again. Signing Di Maria only makes sense if we go to a 3-4-3 or 4-3-3 formation imo or as a 4-1-2-1-2 formation as a LCM.

fecks sake Woodward, wrap up Vidal, get both Di Maria and Cuadrado, pay what it takes to get Benatia and bring in Blind for good measure. It's not rocket science you stupid chief!

Barca seem to be after any player we are interested in - can we spread a rumour in Spain that we are desperate for Fellaini and Nani and are prepared to pay £25 million for each

That's a little bit RAWKish.
In fact, that quite a bit RAWKish.

I thought we only bought players that genuinely wanted to come to OT?

Move along.

If we only bought players who, given the choice, and all things being equal, would rather join us than Barcelona, then I doubt we'd have signed anyone in the last 5 years.

I don't know what to say to this, this seems a very strange comment to make.

Are you suggesting that all who signed for us in the last five years, have only joined us because Barcelona didn't want them or we paid them more?

It's a fair-ish assumption.

If it came down to a straight choice between ourselves and Real/Barça most players would pick one of the latter.

Tom Ince would probably be the exception. The dickhead.

There are too many variables for this kind of sweeping statement to be credible, including the League itself, language, culture, family, playing time etc etc.
