If it comes out eventually that the reason we don't sign Vidal is due to money, then a lot of fans will be severely pissed off. With all the incomings we've got we'd be so much better off just getting deals done and giving them more time in pre season with the squad.

I genuinely dont think money will be the issue this season. We may not sign Vidal but I think it would be more likely down to Juventus not selling, questions over his fitness or because LVG doesn't see him fitting in with his plans.

Actually he did play there for Fiorentina , 1 season ago Montella was using a 4-3-3 and a 3-5-2 and Udinese only play with 3 at the back for a long time.
For the fiorentina he played either wing back or winger, for Udinese wing back and for Colombia wing back.

Agree with the first two but not the third. He would sit nicely next to Herrera. Yes the tactics and discipline would have to be set up well in training as both like to go forward but this would be no different to Keane and Scholes in midfield. Having three centre backs dispels the need for just a simple holding defensive midfielder.
It allows for two box to box midfielders, obviously you can tighten it up by adding Carrick for example if facing a particularly strong opponent but against most they are both defensively sound, Vidal more so but Herrera does not shirk a challenge and always chases back if he loses possession.
Said it before and will say it again.. for a club who should have been under a transfer embargo this summer, they've sure had a very good window.

I think it's obvious we want Vidal, he wants to come, it's just a matter of getting the best price right now. Juve want 50+ and we want around the 35-40 mark. A little patience will sweat them out and hopefully get a better deal.
Whether you wanted him or not, Louis Van Gaal did and now he is off to Barcelona. Another target missed out on, getting bit concerned now.

We want to buy Vermaelen to bolster our defence as we only have 3 defenders, so Wenger asks us to swap for Smalling which would lead to us having to buy another defender or ending up back where we started with only 3 CB's. Yeah that makes a lot of sense Arsene.
Glad we didn't go ahead with this if they would only deal for Smalling.
Out of interest i wonder how much they were offering on top of Vermaelen for Smalling?
It's fairly obvious Arsene just didn't want to sell to us, hence the nonsense about a Smalling swap. That's his way of putting his off and it looks to have worked.

I'm well aware the window is still open but where do we go from here? Hummels is a no go, that guy from Roma commands a ridiculous price and we've nothing other than "preparing bids" for the last few weeks for Vidal.

It is a shame that we missed out on a player that LvG wanted (whether people on here wanted him or not is a different matter), however Arsenal clearly didn't want to sell him to us, he was never going to be swapped for Smalling or Jones and there wasn't much we could do. All I hope is that we do get a defender LvG wants ASAP.

LVG has only been back a few days, Venger was never gonna sell Vermaelen to us anyway! As for Benatia who knows what's happening there, just gotta see what unfolds! As for transfers no one has any friggin clue who we are in for so we just got to be patient. I'm as nervous as anyone else but you don't know what is going on so best just wait and see! It won't be like last year!

I'm getting concerned with people on here. Who are all these targets we've missed out on? I think it's clear we were in for Vermaelen as it's been confirmed, quite clear the issue wasn't our end however it was that Arsenal didn't want to sell to us and if they did it'd be a deal that wasn't worth doing because it wouldn't benefit us.
So who are all these other targets we've apparently missed out on so far? I'd say nobody on here even knows who our actual targets are yet you're claiming we've missed out on more and have reason to be concerned?
