Why would we want to spunk 40m on Hummels? Is no one concerned about his lack of any pace in a league where pace is so prominent?

Mertersacker seems to handle it well, also he would be playing with a pacey partner (or two) so wouldn't think it would be too bad.

According to you, we shouldn't have signed Vidic then.

Vidic lost pace as he got older and even then he was faster than Hummels. Please watch his play in the Bundesliga last year - he was got it on many occasions due to his pace.

You got your wish pretty quick there. Should have asked for a different player. :p
Oh. Isn't it weird that him being injury prone and not playing for Arsenal, clubs the size if Barca and Manchester United are after him.

If Wenger doesn't realise that Khedira has the ability to hold up in midfield just as proficiently as he goes forward, then he doesn't have a clue.
His quotes are more saving face for me.

Wenger wants a proper holding midfielder who plays from deeper.

And though Khedira isn't a offensive box to box player, he is right as in he is best playing Box to box though more defensive than offensive.

He didn't hint, he said it you wankers.

It's amazing isn't it, even when they get a direct and clear quote which they can write as not even being a rumour, but actual fact, they still twist it into something sinister. Are these 'journalists' really that stupid. It must be an easy career to get in to, no brains whatsoever required.

Big deal. We just tabled 30 bids for the same midfielder. Up yours, West Ham.

Liverpool's pursuit of highly sought after players is quite cute.

Still think they could get Cavani if he's for sale.

Apparently he said it, wont know for sure unless you watch the PC, however the quotes are here:

We do know papers like to make stuff up though.
Yep. If there's one thing the BBC is good for, it's giving us the real quotes.

For those unaware of what the BBC stated on their live feed, it's...

Arsene Wenger confirms Arsenal have received bids for club captain Thomas Vermaelen and hints that Manchester United could be one of those bidders.
He says: "Yes [there have been bids]. I can't tell you who but you will know very soon. I think they [Man Utd] could be in the group.
"It could happen that he leaves us because he needs to play now. He is in a position where we cannot stand in his way if he finds an interesting opportunity."
So when dealing with facts, he hinted, but knowing Wenger he probably did so in the most tongue-in-cheek way possible because he was hinting in the strongest way possible because he wasn't allowed to say that we had made a bid, technically, at that time. He may as well have said "I believe that it's possible that we could have perhaps gotten a bid from what could be a club called Manchester United, if you get what I mean, nudge nudge, hint hint, wink wink. But I can't say right now. You know. As fact. But I can hint. I'm allowed to do that much. You guys know what to do from there."

Scholes is signing as Columnist for everyone ?

Yep, he's even going to re-do Nelson's.

Right lads (and ladies). If we sign Cuadrado and Di Maria, and Vermicelli, and Vidal. How do we line up next season? Does the 3-4-1-2 get quickly scrapped for the 4-3-3? If so, how do we shape up/who plays where?
