Monitor player, prepare bid, agree deal in principle with player... whats our next step in signing a player?

He cost around 50 million. They'll be paying him around 100k a week. They certainly have not signed Luiz to... make money.
Well, they will still recoup a lot of money on him. They've undoubtedly overpaid, I don't think anyone will say anything contrary to that, but I really doubt they would have spent that amount of money if he wasn't an illustrious, big name in world football. Also, they already have Marquinhos, so if adding Luiz comes at the expense of Marquinhos, they've lost a superior defender. Hardly a benefit in purely football terms.

That description is his sense of humour. Plus he has posted that on the sanctuary too and if its a WUM he'd be banned.

He's reliable, not necessarily sure about his sources

I had an account on Sanc and they don't ban people on wums.

My own theory on the Barca links is they've whittled down a starting CB for the cheapest price since they've significantly improved their squad with big buys. He definitely is not their first choice but since Marquinhos is off the cards and Hummels would fetch a big fee they've taken the cheap option in Vermaelen the difference is they will get him and we won't (sort of glad).

Well sign Vlaar for a hefty fee, probably 20m or so.
You talk some shite lad.

So we'll just not sign anyone else then?

This is the way the football world works now. You don't try and scrounge 20p off a deal. If you want the player you stump up the cash. If some of that cash is effectively a bribe to the agent then so be it.

Roll with the times.

You can't just throw ridiculous money at every player and expect him to sign.
And football doesn't work like that. Football contracts are complex documents. It's not about scrimping on 20p, it's the intricate details and small print.

I was referring specifically to Hummels because the media have brought this idea that he's available to sign, even though the player himself has stated his desire to stay at Dortmund multiple times over the last two years or so.
But fans seem to think its as simple as placing 40m and he'll be ours, and Woodwards inability to do this deems him a failure, even though there isn't an ounce of concrete evidence that he's even for sale.

If he's reliable then -

Guess, Woodward has gone on holiday after completing these deals. :p

They really are the worst for making up complete and utter bullshit. They're worse than goal.com et al.

Yep, didn't realise how bad The Express were before this twitter thread. They create nonsense transfer stories every day

Not for the money Real Madrid want for him. Cuadrado is a better choice anyway, fits 3-5-2 and 4-3-3.
The only reliable source i've seen report on the speculation are Cadena Cope who say Madrid want close to €50m euros

If we are moving to a 3-5-2 and Van Gaal is serious about it, then we don't really need Di Maria anyway.

If he wants a 4-3-3 option already, then yes but i think he has seen enough to stick with 3-5-2.

Exactly.

I fecking hate Juventus and their penny-pinching ways. They've got a litany of talent for fecking peanuts in recent years and now they look like extending that.

Lavezzi, Jovetic and Hernandez alone is a front three that would rival most in probably all of the major European leagues, and these wankers are trying to pinch them all on loan.

Jog on.

If you believe twitter, then yes. If on the other hand you think 99% of what is posted on twitter is bullshit written by attention seekers, you might not have arrived at the same conclusion.

Agreed, which is why signing Cuadrado makes perfect sense given he's had plenty of experience playing the Wingback role and if we ever did decide to move formation can be utilised as a right forward. He's more versatile and cheaper than Di Maria. Not really a contest for me.

No, my opinion on them has been forged before this latest "news" broke.

Pogba, Tevez, Pirlo, Llorente, Evra, Barzagli, Pereyra... all players in their current squad who've signed for peanuts/on loan.

You mean they are shrewd in the market and don't let themselves get ripped off like we do?

Ok.

It's nothing to do with jealousy. Far from it.

I just abhor the idea of them scrounging around looking for deals on the cheap on a constant basis. They're the richest club in Italy, for feck's sake!

Not sure that means that much though. Italy and rich are not two words that go together unless Berlusconi or Versace are included in the sentence.
