Isn't everybody's problem with the Vermaelen transfer the injury record he has, so if he was able to stay fit it wouldn't he be a descent signing?
Only asking this because I really can't remember how Vermaelen.
And Messi's agent has just confirmed that Manchester United have not made a bid for Messi.
Well we'll all remember how Vermaelen if he doesn't Barcelona.
Injuries aside I don't rate him.
I hope this doesn't mean that Mats Hummels is off the agenda!
Yes I think the whole injury record is putting off most but when fit is a capable defender. I personally believe he is better than Jones, Smalling (who both have time to improve) and Evans but that says more about our current options than how good a player Vermaelen actually is.
If LvG rates him then I will be happy, he obviously thinks he could be the left side of a back three. After watching the tour I would play Jones Smalling Vermaelen if we do actually buy him. Plus the fee is pricey but not ridiculous.
A fully fit Vermalem is average, IMO.
Vermaelen can do alot of damage. I support Louis in his choice.
I honestly don't think he'd join us anyway even if we have CL football.
He'll leave Dortmund next season and Barcelona will go all out for him.

Hummels might be on the agenda for next season if we get into the CL. Why would he leave Dortmund before then? We might have to prove last season was just a blip to that class of player.

Surely with his injury record he is not going to be a starter. What a strange transfer if Barca or us sign him! Just shows the real lack of class defenders around these days.
I WIsh we'd just sign whomever we need. The whole 'lets wait till last day of the window' just blows. And it wont help players settle in properly before the actual season begins.
This. We all seem to forget that he had some serious form before his injuries started bugging him. Also, Koscielny and Mertersacker weren't setting the world alight until last year so he barely had a good CB partner. He'll be good addition. Not the best, but good nonetheless as long he stays fit.
Sorry what? There's loads of classy defenders, problem is 70% arent available or have too steep pricetags.
