You're forgetting van Gaal has barely been able to full assess the squad. He is known for working with what he has got and shifting people around to fit his plans. Only then does he look to buy.

Agreed, I don't think van Gaal could have been any clearer on this subject than at his first press conference when he said he was going to look at the squad first to assess it.
I'm sure he'll get 2 or 3 in before the end of the window, with a couple more than that going out.

Herrera is a fantastic signing and the boy will be a top player in a year or two. This does not resolve our - obvious for years now - weak midfield. Fellaini, Anderson, Cleverley, Fletcher and Carrick. This midfield was terribly exposed last season and has been in Europe as well. The last few years we have relied on Giggs and even had Scholes out of retirement.
Ed this year said top players in the game want to play for United and Moyes last year said they are queuing up. So either this is true, which is great but our negotiations fail frequently or like I said we don't actually want any of them. Yes I know there is time left in window but even LvG is saying defenders are needed. Fair enough the man feels this is the weakest area right now so I expect to see one signed before window shuts but I believe (which I'm sure I'm allowed an opinion) that if the midfield is not strengthened further we will struggle to make the top four.
We had already signed Herrera when Ed made his statement. I don't think there will be any announcements about signing until they get back, why destabalise the team while they are on tour and doing well.

I am frustrated but not overly as whatever happens this window we no longer have Moyes so that's a huge positive!
Obviously Pexbo took it too personally that I even have an opinion and that I should not support the club I have actually supported for 30 years because I'm spoilt due to being fed up with the constant Vidal speculation rumbling on (hence my own and many other fans varying frustration levels).

I myself am getting sick and tired of this Arturo Vidal talk. Either sign him or move on, we need more than just Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw this window (who just for the record I think are brilliant signings) but anyone who thinks our current squad, even under LVG is going to compete with Chelsea/City who have both strengthened even further this summer.

What CB will we sign if we don't get Vermaelen? I agree with Scholes when he says we need two new CB's especially with this new formation.
I think he'll leave Arsenal this window but Wenger might drag it out until towards the end of the month until he signs a replacement.
