Vida was piece of genius scouting & the price tag was a gift.

What about Rio though? He wasnt cheap! But look how many successful years we got from that fee. The money we paid for Jones & Smalling pretty much accumulate to Rio's fee & we got 12 years of top-class defending & a shitload of trophies for our money, not to mention 3 Champions League Finals in 4 years - that wasnt a fluke.

Next season is vital for the club & we shouldnt be pissing around lookin at average players in the hope we get an extra 10% out of them.

We have the money - Ed's been f*cking braggin about it, so lets hope we spend it on top-class players that we need & we have a great season

Yeah that's what's not making me too worried, Woodward will look like a right tit if we miss out on the players we clearly need to buy to help the club back to the top. Signing Vidal is obviously not looking likely but I am confident we will bring in at least three more players when some have gone. There's just no way we will have another incompetent transfer window like last summer, van Gaal will be prepared.

All comes down to who goes really too, if Nani or Hernandez leave then we will need another attacker to go with the priority top quality CB we require so another CM might be held off till Jan or next Summer, especially if we don't end up selling Fellaini. Like you say though, we can't mess about here, we have the funds so it's vital we bring in some players the calibre of Hummels and Vidal to give everyone a lift going in to the season. We also have a certain number 7 shirt that needs filling so Ed will be desperate for a marquee signing before the window closes.

Hummels for £20m would be the buy of the season  .. pity there's no truth in it!

It is slightly worrying that with one month to go we are still only being linked with the likes of Hummels, Vidal and Di Maria. All of whom are unattainable.

Shades of the Fabregas pursuit of last season.

Yep.

This Summer is shaping up to be a train reck just like last season.

Yep. There is still lot of time but after last season we should have concluded our business early. And if we have already done that, I will be very worried.

We understand Liverpool are closing in on a £20m deal to sign Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno - full story from 6am on #SSN

He has very good talent but not sure how he will adapt.

His last season was pretty poor actually, so they are taking a punt and overpaying. Defensively he can be even more exposed in the PL which is his weak part of the game.

Liverpool are going full Spurs this season. Time will tell whether its a good decision or no. Imo it is because what they lacked was a proper squad last season.

Musacchio?

Thats him yes. Im not sure signing a young talent is the answer for us, especially South American taking time to adjust but apart from the obvious names likw Hummels that seem unlikely and the fact the other poster was saying where is another cheaop Vidic unknown, from what i have seen (not a lot) he would be an option though a risky one.

While Brendan Rodgers thinks Liverpool won't do a spurs, I'm sure their fans would like somebody of real quality to come in.

After seeing LVG's best Dutch defender go to Lazio with his blessing for a small fee. I can't help thinking we are close to signing a defender with real quality. I will be dumbfounded if we don't sign another defender and centre mid this window.

We want a Left Sided CB is my guess. Vermaelen seems inevitable if Arsenal sell.

I've never seen a player linked with a move away but never materialising as much as Nani.

Marouane Fellaini's people don't deny Napoli's interest, but insist they haven't opened negotiations with the Italians. #MUFC

Nope. Nani has been heavily linked with a move away since the 2012 January window.

His apparently agreed to join Zenit, Milan, Juve and Monaco more than once.

 Thanks for the goal.com responses lads! I was having a heated argument with my friend about whether it's reliable or not, so we decided to ask the caf.

Why would Chelsea go for Lopez after having Courtois and Cech? :wenger:

Maybe Cech will leave. He's been linked with a few clubs.

Reports here in Boston that #LFC will offload Johnson for £4m now that Moreno & Manquillo are in the bag, one year before he goes for free.
