Hummel's really isn't worth more than £25m. For instance if Barca was to purchase him he wouldn't be going for more than that. I don't know why everyone getting in a hissy over the price. But can't see this being true especially with that Pool nobody as his replacement, who do they think Dortmund are.

This.

I have laughed every time I see people saying something like "Reus is worth 60m easy". In what world?

The same world where Shaw goes for £27m, Lallana goes for £23m, Lukaku goes for £28m, Luiz goes for £50m, Mathieu goes for £16m, Herrera goes for £30m, etc.

This would be true a decade ago, but not now. He's a world class defender, 25 years old, has a long time left on his , and is probably the best center back around with the ball at his feet. His price is probably around 40m in this current market, but he's twice the player David Luiz will ever hope to be, and he went for 50m, so who knows.

In the same world that Bale and get bought for 80m, James Rodriguez for 65 or 70m, etc. Last year he was the best german player, and was one of the best wingers/attacking mids in the world.

Yep that world is the premier league.. in reality, players go for what they are truely worth unless you are owned by a sugar daddy. So don't be expecting no stupid fees like Reus for £60m.

Fjortoft again  He has said the same about Kroos

Every player has his price apart from Messi and Ronaldo
Sure he has a price, but it's a price that nobody will be willing to pay, because I doubt Dortmund will let him go for anything less then 50 or 60m. He plays such a big role for them both on and off the pitch that they have no reason to sell him, especially as there is no way they could replace him with a better player anyways.

Very true, i love his denial of German players going to England

I literally burst into tears from laughing when i read his tweets about none of the best German players wanting to play in the Premier League :lol::lol:

Reus won't go for £60m because he has a release clause. It isn't only the premier league either. James went for 70 on the back of a good world cup.

Yeah but he went to PSG.. like most of their signings over inflated. No other team in the world is paying £50m for Luiz. He is a world class defender but there are quite a few decent defenders out their and his not £40m better than the rest of them.

The only clubs Reus would go to would be one of the very best in the world, or biggest clubs, who have a chance to win the title. His release clause is 30m next summer, but he is worth way more then that, as quite simply he's a world class player.

I'm sure PSG would have paid that and gotten him if only they waited until after the WC to sign a defender.

Also agree think people are dreaming when they think Hummels would go for 40m+
I'm not saying someone will pay that (though he sure as hell would be more worth it then Luiz). I'm saying Dortmund won't sell for less then a ridiculous offer like 50m, and that's how much he's worth to them as a player and influence at the club.

There really aren't that many good defenders out there in their primes. We're in dire need of a center back, and who out there is at a decent age and top class or world class? Benatia and Hummels are pretty much the only 2, and neither club will let them go for less then £40-50m. If you look at all the top clubs right now as well, none of them really have any good defenders. Barca have shit to average center backs. Madrid have Pepe and Sergio Ramos, and then Varane as a youngster, but again, that's nothing special. Bayern have Boateng and Dante/Martinez, who is a defensive mid. City only have Kompany pretty much. Chelsea are basically as shit as we are at the back. There just aren't any top center backs out there, definitely none who are available, and unless we go for somebody like Vermaelan, we'll end up paying loads (like the 40-50m range) if we want to bring in a top class player.

For example, Barca are apparently bidding around £35m for 20 year old Marquinhos, after PSG bought him for that much last season on the back of 1 season of first team football. And PSG have apparently rejected that too, despite just buying Luiz for 50m and having Thiago Silva. Why would Dortmund sell for cheap when they see other clubs bidding so much for shit players like Luiz, or just youngsters like Marquinhos?

The British tabloids have been running with ridiculously low fee's for Hummels all Summer. Its pretty obvious they know that they're spouting shite, and quite frankly, couldn't give a shit.

We paid £28.1m for Rio in 2002, so why shouldnt we pay a higher fee (12 years later), for a top-class player right now?

If United want success, we have to try to mirror what we had before with with Rio & Vida & none of these cheap alternatives that arent up to it..

Thiago Silva
Varane (personal preference)
Benatia
Subotic
Kompany
Ramos
Chiellini

Now except for Thiago Silva neither of them defenders are going for £40m. Im sorry don't know where you are getting these figure from.

Ian Herbert of the Independent has also said we want Hummels in the centre of our back 3 with Evans and Vermaelen either side.

Well its good to know that we've learnt our lessons from last Summer, and we're not wasting our time chasing unrealistic targets.

Oh wait

Which unrealistic targets are we chasing?

Well if we're after Hummels, then him. I don't think Dortmund and Kloop could have made it any clearer that they're not selling under any circumstances.

I remember him saying how he thought United might sign Kroos. He seems pretty reliable to me and Hummels is definitely a difficult target and unless we offered a ridiculous amount of money, the chances of getting him are near enough zero.
