Lukaku has a lot of raw talent so i reckon he could still come good but its a big outlay of cash considering how prudent Everton have been in recent years so i suspect it has to work either in goals return or with resale value.

Lukaku is a beast, and could be a massive player in time. Consider he's 20 years old and even at 16 was already bigger than 90% of players out there. He's a Drogba waiting to happen. Doesn't need to focus on muscling up, either, which means he can focus on refining his football talent despite his youth.

The Drogba comparisons are lazy in my opinion, they're different strikers. Drogba has much more finesse for one.

I was going off the article linked on his Wiki page. Regardless, my point remains that Chelsea have done extremely well to get £25 million for him, in addition to the fees they've already gotten for Luiz and Mata.
£25 million for a striker they don't want.
€/£50 million for a truly awful centre back.
£37 million a brilliant number 10, who wasn't wanted for some reason.

In the space of about 7 months, Chelsea have become absolutely lethal in the transfer market.

Chelsea have made an overall profit on transfers this summer haven't they? Helps as long as you have suckers like PSG paying 50 mil for wet toilet paper.

£18 m for de Bruyne too AFAIR.

The only reason PSG would be stupid enough to pay 50M for Luiz is if they had a deal for Hazard in the works already.
I think Hazard will be off to PSG next year.

Thought it was more of a f**k you to UEFA, that they would spend whatever they wanted. Plus Thiago Silva seems to call the shots there so I'm sure he demanded they get Luiz

De Bruyne, Mata and Lukaku will all turn out to be worth the money spent on them IMO.

Chelsea insist on Miranda http://ow.ly/zKRat

Article says that we (and Barca) 'baulked' at Atletico's €30m asking, but that Chelsea have now offered €25m.

I find it amazing, that at the end of the year prior Jose's arrival, Benitez departue... and Chelsea fans were stoked most about Mata blossoming as the young fulcrum of the team, David Luiz was looking their next young midfield general, and young Lukaku looked such an exciting prospect to take over Drogba's mantle, and Mourinho has shipped all 3 out like they were yesterdays garbage, could you imagine the abuse the club would be recieving just now if their manager was anyone other than Mourinho?

Would people stop quoting that unreliable site for transfers? His fee was £13m rising to £18m if certain conditions were met. Anyway chelsea really have got a great negotiator for sales, we should get in someone to handle the transfer negotiations side of things for us, Ed and co seem to be good at getting value in commercial deals, not so good when it comes to footballers, it might help if we had people who had better knowledge of football.

The very obvious difference is that the players Chelsea are selling (with the probable exception of Luiz) they don't have room for but would be regulars at a lot of other sides.

Young players who have performed well on loan and were highly sought after before going to Chelsea, clubs will pay good money for. Likewise Mata who was their player of the season the year before he was sold and a class PL player.

We aren't selling players because we've got too much quality they cant get a game - it's more likely to be that they're past it or not good enough for the level they're playing at.

There's a reason why Lukaku goes for millions and Bebe goes for buttons.

No right thinking fan would abuse his manager for selling David Luiz for that sort of money.

Besides, they've replaced him with Fabregas and Lukaku with one of Europe's best forwards.

They originally paid 20m for him, you have to take that in account.

Does anyone know what caused problems between Mourinho and Lukaku never heard the full reason or is it Mourinho just being Mourinho?

The same Rooney who is 'on the decline with his best years behind him'?

Romelu Lukaku move from Chelsea to Everton set to be confirmed - fee of around €30m. Means Fernando Torres not leaving #CFC this summer #EFC

That's a big fee for Lukaku, I know he has been good for Everton but it's basically their previous transfer record doubled. With players like Borini being priced at £14m though they might have been able to save a few million by buying someone else but that money would have gone down the drain if it hadn't worked out. With Lukaku they know exactly what they get.
