From all the tweets and articles, looks like the English press only have a very general idea of the targets we're after but absolutely no clue about how negotiations are going or whether we've made a bid or not..Other than Vidal (reported by Chilean and Italian media), there seems to be no other player seriously linked to us in the foreign press.

I don't know if we're focusing on sorting out the Vidal deal before others or if Woody has somehow managed go from being leakier than a sponge to watertight. Either way, the lack of solid links to other players worries me, and its going to be a long transfer window.

Other than Vidal, I don't think we've been solidly linked to any other player. Di Maria is clearly his agent's creation, same with Cavani. Trying to get Hummels looks like a dead end and Strootman is likely only in Jan.

Vermaelen is probably the only other player we're really in for at the moment..

25 million on one player? Moyes must be jealous. Or maybe he always had the money to spend within reason but was too scared to do so.

Moyes only has himself to blame, he vetoed deals for Garay, Herrera and possibly Tiago. If those 3 had joined last season things may have turned out differently... but then Moyes may still be here.

I cannot - fingers crossed - see them finishing above Man United again, but can see them having another very good season. Will finish above Liverpool IMO.

I actually we think we would have a very good go if it wasn't for the extra Europa League games. However we will have a very good chance at that competition with the team we now have and the winner of that gets a Champions League spot.

Moyes sold Lescott for £24 million and didn't get the chance to spunk it all on a proven striker, which that Everton side desperately needed at the time.
Because he spent 12 million on Billyetdinov, 6 on John Heitinga and 6 on Distan ( who was a fantastic signing to be fair). Probably another signing in that window that i can't recall. Basically he sent most of the budget on Billy who was to be honest quite shit.

Hardly a massive Coup is it?

Some of the words these journos use are frankly pathetic.

I can not see him going to Valencia or Aletico Madrid for £37m. Nor Real Madrid as they have too many midfielders. With all those clubs interested it is hard to question the lads talent. He would be an ideal signing for United.

Amazed bigger clubs aren't taking a punt with him to be honest.

Fellaini money paying off for Everton already. Good aquisition from them.

He was quality for them last year. I'd say it's a terrific signing.

I agree, all I'm saying is buying an unwanted player who had been loaned out for 2 seasons (maybe more? Can't remember when they signed him) for a reasonable fee, is hardly a "massive coup".

Unless of course all of those clubs arent actually interested and its all either a) his agent or b) his club trying to engineer a lucrative move.

It is given that he has a lot of admirers across Europe. I think it's a coup myself as well, he's one of the best young strikers in Europe imo.

I don't think it's a coup if their paying 25 million. I doubt many clubs would be after him at that price.

Think this is maybe the thing "for them", but under Martinez I wouldn't say it was, Everton look like a very good team, have got some very good players and are going places.

If West Brom, Hull or such a team signed him, then I might say it's a "coup".

And this:

Agreed!

It's a pretty giant coup for everton, They have bagged themselves a striker who will get them 20 goals a season at the age of 20, who when big clubs come in for him 3 years down the line they will double their money back. exciting times for everton fans. Really shows how shite moyes truly was, at how easily he's been upgraded by martinez.

Can't see a striker in the mould of Lukaku ever being sold for ~£40million.

I was going off the article linked on his Wiki page. Regardless, my point remains that Chelsea have done extremely well to get £25 million for him, in addition to the fees they've already gotten for Luiz and Mata.
They've done exceptional to get the fees they did for Luiz and Mata. Ridiculous money.

At least the Mata fee made sense... not sure what they are smoking over there at PSG to lead them to believe that Luiz was worth anything close to £50M... Hazard must be going to PSG as well next year.

Hazard - Ibra - Di Maria = Champions league.

He managed 16 last season. A decent amount but not a player who gaurantees 20 goals a season or a particularly good footballer. He's a bit overrated and struggled to get in the Belguim team ahead of a 19 year old when their best striker was injured.

I think Everton should have gone for Bony, personally. Not convinced on Lukaku, and I think it was a good move by Mourinho to sell now.

Everton have bought Lukaku for his maximum value- will never sell him for more than that. Everton fan next to me at work thinks he is decent but not a top 4 club player at all. I agree. He causes defenders trouble with his size but will never be a Drogba because he does not have the technical ability Drogba possessed or the work ethic imo.

He'll score goals for Everton. So good signing there, but yeah I'm not totally convinced about him as a footballer. He has plenty of games where he contributes absolutely nothing and looks lazy and disinterested. He's slightly worse than Bony at the minute, although the best part of the signing for Everton is that he's still very young, so he's got room to improve.

He has scored 32 league goals in 66 appearances for Everton and West Brom in the last couple of seasons, and he's still only 21 years old. I'm not his biggest fan, but he surely will get Everton a lot of goals in the next few years.

They sold De Bruyne for 17 million pounds as well IIRC.

The fee was £19,36 million according to Transfermarkt.
Would people stop quoting that unreliable site for transfers? His fee was £13m rising to £18m if certain conditions were met. Anyway chelsea really have got a great negotiator for sales, we should get in someone to handle the transfer negotiations side of things for us, Ed and co seem to be good at getting value in commercial deals, not so good when it comes to footballers, it might help if we had people who had better knowledge of football.
