Did they contact you about the offer for mutv?

I just rang up sky and asked them what the best deal for MUTV was. Thought at £3 was a bit of a bargain, although annoyingly don't think the HD channel is in the standard package.

Woodward excited by van Gaal arrival

Manchester United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward says new manager Louis van Gaal is leaving an "imprint" on everyone he meets at the club and believes the Dutchman's qualities made him the perfect choice for the Reds.

In an exclusive interview with MUTV, Woodward explained how he admires van Gaal's direct approach while noting his warmth as a person.

"He's got incredible energy and very importantly he likes attacking football. If you remember the Barcelona team [he managed] in the late '90s, who played incredible, attacking football, and those games we had against them in '98/99, that’s the kind of football Manchester United fans love. It’s part of our DNA," explained Woodward.

"The second part of what he likes is giving youth a chance. He’s got a track record littered with giving young players a break in the first team, who have gone on to be stars. Clearly that’s Manchester United’s philosophy and we want him to continue with that.

"I’ve personally found him very warm. He’s a very clear communicator and very direct. I like that in people; I’m a very direct person myself. He’s a stickler for planning and that’s something we as a club do very well. We plan everything in a lot of detail and that’s going to be a good fit.

"We’ve got someone who has confidence in himself about making difficult decisions and, when you boil down what makes a great manager, one of the key characteristics is making difficult decisions and we’ve clearly got a manager who can do that.

"I’m hearing a lot of good feedback from a lot of people about him and there is a huge amount of goodwill towards him and the coaching

staff," added Woodward. "Every interaction he’s having with people is leaving an imprint, which is superb."

The executive vice-chairman also spoke of the importance of having Ryan Giggs involved in van Gaal's regime.

"It was a very easy conversation to have [with Louis] about Ryan. He said he wanted Ryan to be in his group," Woodward added. "It’s very important to us as a club that we have continuity and Ryan is the perfect person to continue that continuity. He did a great job in the set-up last year and has obviously been at the club for a long time, so we’re very pleased about that.

"There is real unity in the squad and Louis clearly has something to give in terms of the special way he has with his players when it comes to binding the team together. We’ve seen that already with the steps he’s taken with the preparation and the training and the things going on around that. He’s going to deliver exactly what we expect him to deliver and in conjunction with Ryan, who has that great understanding of all these players."

Nothing on transfers YET, i guess it will be same line that club continue to work hard and we want to assess the squad etc. Mutv dare not ask a meaningful question.

Hmm sounds like the transcript for the interview later. Shame thought we might get some transfer hints.

The guy has added in the "finally" in the tweet to make what Ed said sound like a direct dig at Moyes.

The minimum has to be top four, but I don't see why we wouldn't be able to put in at least some sort of push for the title.

You effectively start -30 goals, alot of assists &chances created and more important than that, you have no player and i mean no player who could instill half the fear suarez did in smaller teams. your defense isnt good enough, midfield is okay and you keep on signing attackers which was already good. The team reeks of imbalance right now.

That's great to hear! I like Woodward and I have always said he is a quick learner. But at the same time my concern regarding our current board is/was that there are no footballing ppl around.

Now noone knows how Woodward knows that kind of stuff like the bolded one. Either he indeed watched the games and remembers it, or Giggs or LvG himself told him that, or he went on wiki/into history books ... in the end how he gains such kind of knowledge is not that important to me, the important thing is that he knows about it and lets it know publicly that United still care about it!

It is debatable, he's still a good player (Cavaini) yes he's lost a bit of form, that's mainly down to being played out of position, and not being happy at his club. When Rooneys played on the wing or moved to midfield his form drops and attitude changes.
Getting the best out if him wouldn't be to hard. Still wouldn't like to see it happen though.
I wouldn't like to see this happen..Rooney was still our best player last season and what if Cavani can not rediscover his form of 2-3 years ago with Napoli it would be suicide to let that go ahead!

I wouldn't worry, it won't happen. Certainly not in a swap deal anyway. Aside from the fact that the deal probably wouldn't be that beneficial on the playing side, the Club wouldn't be willing to forego what Rooney brings them commercially for the sake of a deal like this.

I'd be pretty pissed off if Arsenal sign Carvahlo for less then his buy-out clause and we don't sign Vidal.

This Vidal shit is boring. It's so obvious that it's Chilean/Italian media bullcrap. GdS reporting that a fee has been agreed about a week ago was the tip of the crap cake.

Whether we get him or not, I just want it to end. So tedious.

To be fair, Vidal came out a week ago and said he wouldn't be sorting anything until his holiday was over on 28th, anyone who believes anything that's printed before then are just winding themselves up

That's got to be fake. No way he could have said anything like that. Wish we would just move on from you know who's reign last year, the advertisement by MUTV channel was cringeworthy to say the least.

Because he didn't say that. "Darren" has added in the word 'finally' to change into a direct snipe. The quotes on manutd.com are different.

Of course he didn't say ''finally''. It'd have been completely unprofessional and moronic. The digs at Moyes need to stop and are even more tiresome than the constant rehashing of Vidal stories.

There goes my post count.

I think he's always been a bit stocky and this increased as he got older and for a defender that's not a bad thing unless you overdo it.

At least it's not fat! :)

I wish I was as fat as him.

Jesus Christ, he's a physique model compared to some other 'top' footballers.
