How does this change things? Even if you earned more points than us last year we would have still finished 3rd.
Barney, did you fear Utd last season? Did anyone? I don't think anyone feared LFC going in to the season and I believe that was a benefit to them; this year people know what LFC has and will be ready for them, and a motivated and hungry Utd will be one more shadow hanging over the dippers every second of the day. If they are up to it, fair play, but look how they dealt with pressure last season.

We might not even have a vacancy then. Timing needs to match for this sort of thing.

Klopp be available too possibly if it's a 3 to 4 years period.

Klopp remains the guy I hope will be our next long term manager but who knows how things will go with LvG, if he stays active like Fergie he could be here another 8 seasons.

Makes sense given how many players they brought in last summer, there should still be plenty to come from Lamela and Eriksen, but he'll need to buy at least one striker as Spurs only have Kane left.

Same at the moment.

They also have Soldado ? And haven't offloaded Adebayor yet.

Ben Davies is a good pickup for LB.

I admit I completely forgot about Soldado and I thought they'd cut ties with Adbeayor, I guess Pochetino might be able to get Soldado into his Valencia form.

Agreed, I know a few here fancied Davies as an option for us if the Shaw deal fell through.

I know it seems unlikely but I really hope Chicharito stays and gets a shot under LvG.

Good, Arsenal were beginning to actually look like a proper side for a while there.

If they were to sign a class striker and center back, yeah, then they'll be seriously in with a shout - Sanchez is a huge signing for them and he'll be tasty in the Prem

Just to get the actual ''quote'' from Graham Hunter

Could be an interesting one! Van Gaal followed by one of his students, with Giggs as assistant for a bit longer before he does finally take over as manager.

Imagine learning from Sir Alex, Van Gaal and Guardiola before becoming United boss.

I'd love him to succeed van Gaal here but it's definitely going to be Giggs.

In a strange kind of way I really hope not. I love Giggsy, he was the player I idolized growing up but when the LVG era ends and Pep is available we simply have to go for him given who successful he has been compared to Ryan who is just starting out.

I'm glad Giggsy is still involved with the club, would be weird after all this years for him not to be but I honestly believe he should have to go and earn his stripes as a manager before being given this job just because of his legendary status.

Van Gaal has been here only for 4 days and they are already discussing who will manage in 2 years.

Pep was Barca's B team manager before he got promoted, so he had a good experience of management & making the decisions etc. Giggsy has had only 4 games in management & time will tell if being LvG's assistant will be adequate enough to be our manager after LvG's contract runs out.

If Van Gaal is successful during his time here, he should be offered an extension. It would be crazy not to & just hand the keys to Giggsy..

Time will tell though..

Poor old Iniesta has had to pretend that he's Messi in order to finally get an award.
