Dunno why everyone's so scandalised by the fee for Borini. In today's market, £14m seems about right. He's a very promising young striker who played superbly for them at the latter end of last season, and has been highly rated by a lot of different managers now.

If PSG are really struggling, let's help them out. £50m combined for Matuidi and Verratti? Chuck in another £20m for Lucas and we would be good to go :drool:

I also don't get the fuss about the Borini fee. Was superb at times for Sunderland last season, getting some spectacular (and vital) goals. I actually thought Liverpool might want to keep him in their squad for next season, would have been a decent option to have.

Anything going down this morning, United related?

£14m for Borini? Christ Liverpool can scrape every last penny for a deal can't they.

Pastore = 20 -25 million
LUcas = 15 million (low but quoted by le parisan in euros!)
Verrati = 30 million

Thats 65-70 million spent and most of our problems solved. Instead of pastore, we should rather try for matuidi. He would be a great signing if we cant get vidal.

None of them signings that would really hit our problems on the head. Pastore completely pointless. Lucas a nice addition but also a bit of a luxury compared to a CM, or even a CB, and Verrati the sort of lightweight, grit-free CM who could easily blink faced with PL football and against sides who aren't massively outclassed by his own. He's generally failed to impress against quality sides, and was particularly poor in both legs against Chelsea.

Matuidi I'd take in a second, although not on PSG-level wages.

It includes add ons, something like 8-9 million rising to 14.

Id take both Verratti and Lucas, both young with a ton of potential in 2 positions we need. Sign them up.

Verrati = central midfielder

Lucas = wide attacker that LVG uses in his system

Pastore i agree with, but he is better and more effective than kagawa(in a united shirt), he can also play in a midfield 3.

Agree Verrati is not the finished product or as good as people think he is yet. But he is still very young and still developing. Don't think he is grit free at all tbh. Can totally get stuck in when needed though he needs to improve facets of his game and does go missing in the bigger games.

But his potential is really big.

Is he? Because I've never seen Pastore in a United shirt. He's only impressed in fits and starts for PSG, a team who comfortably dominate their league and get loads of easy games - where's the guarantee he'd be any good for United, a team struggling to get back to a good level in the world's most competitive league? Besides, there's simply no point buying #10s, it's the most competitive spot in our squad. He might be better than Kagawa but that would still put him behind Mata and Rooney.

I'm aware Verrati's a CM. Read what I actually said about him. Likewise Lucas - a luxury, might-work out-might-not signing when we should be using the money where it's desperately needed, in CM.

I can see Pastore struggling in the PL. He needs to have a team structured around him to get best out of him as well.

Lucas has been inconsistent so far but he's very talented and suited to United's way of playing and the PL as well. He is exactly the type of wide player we need. Pacy who can carry the ball over large distances quickly and dribble well. His weakness would be he can only really play on the right best at this stage. On the left he doesn't look the same.

Seems like phill hasnt found a role at the club yet.

Doesn't seem there is a role free in the first team setup anymore.

Maybe him and Scholes could be given a coaching role or advisory role somewhere in the academy setup ?

No signing is guaranteed to work, shevchenko to chelsea is a prime example of that. Lucas is not a luxury player, he is a winger/right attacker with skill and pace to burn. He has good technique and is young, the type of player sir alex and this club has always wanted.

Pastore isnt being used well. He does not need a team built around him, he can do good in a team if he is played in his position(left/central midfield).

Verrati is a terrific footballer, his ability under the pressing and his close control and passing are world class. Yes he isnt consistent yet, but you expect that from a young midfielder. He started for italy in the world cup and is seen as the playmaker after pirlo. He is just 21 man, where were zidane/xavi/carrick/scholes at 21? Scholes if i remember correctly made his debut at 21.

If it didn't affect midfield and defensive signings Lucas at€15m would be a great buy. We have zero pace up front.

Surprising that Bojan is still on Barcelona books. They won't get a big fee for him now. Had they sold him a year earlier could have got decent money.

Nah, no buy offers for Bojan. He is on 2,5m per year (very long contract, ends in 2015), nobody wants to pay him that much and he had no intention of giving up any money and try to jump-start his career at a smaller club. Hopefully he'll do well at Depor. Barcelona is just cutting losses with him.

Similar situation with a few other youngsters.

I see. Just went through his stats, his time at Barca was relatively more successful than while on loan at different clubs (On personal front that is).

Christ, they havent half thrown Moyes under the bus in that new advert. Almost like they are trying to get across the idea that last season was a total one off and they've eliminated the problem.

Any links for this?

I don't like any of the PSG midfielders to be honest, all overrated and overpriced. Verratti is the only ok one.
