I'd hazard a guess that will be written by Jamie Jackson again.
He's gone from Vidal is Van Gaal's priority, to he's one of many on radar, to he was Moyes' target all along to now this.
I think he confused the Telegraph with the Guardian. Just checked the article in the telegraph and can't see that anywhere.
This is baffling. It amazes me that we wouldn't want Vidal and I'd be surprised if we sold Smalling, we'd need two centre backs if this was the case and I assume Valencia and Rafael would play at right back.

Also, selling Smalling would be silly.

The article doesn't mention anywhere that LVG has performed a u-turn on Vidal. It just quotes Morratta.

Simply using 'we finished 1st the season before last' doesn't work either. On paper we should never have won the league with a squad worse than City's and Chelsea's and the midfield the way it was. Now we're further behind them squad wise and regardless of how good we think LVG is we don't have SAF getting everyone fighting like it was their last match ever each time we were out on the pitch.

In fairness, it is hard to keep up with Jackson's dross.
That is from a different article and the 2nd part is correct where he casually says Van Gaal might offer SMalling for Vermaelen.
