The Chelsea / Shaw link seemed exclusively to come from the fact that he is a Chelsea fan (allegedly anyway). Yes, Cole left, but the link seemed solely to come from his alleged support of the club.

Shaw never struck me as a player Mourinho would ever want. He tends to opt more for players in their peak who can instantly perform at the top level without too much nurturing.

Poor Simone, having his squad torn apart. Chelsea taking back Courtious, nabbing Costa and Luis. Barca chasing Koke, Miranda and Turan maybe snapped up as well.

They have Oliver Torres and Saul Niguez coming back from loan, Javier Manquillo another talented youngster, already bought some potentially good striker and will most likely find replacements in other areas as well. Koke will probably stay and they should have some money to reinvest, which they already did reinvest in Filipe Luis' replacement -Siqueira. They'll cope.

We could just get Cashley and save some cash to invest in the midfield, which is a bigger hole at this time. Not saying Shaw wouldn't be a great investment but 30 mil for a left back is a steep price to pay unless you get Irwin level service from him.

He had a very good season, which is why we should be in for him again and don't feck it up this time round.
It makes too much sense. A brilliantly technically gifted player with great passing who is also very defensively sound and can play a number of midfield positions. He would be available at a somewhat decent fee (£27-35m) and is used to playing under Bielsa philosophy - almost a strand of the stuff van Gaal advocates - and the only other team in for him (Barcelona) have gone for Rakitic. But nah, we don't want that.

Well, I'm still hopeful. :wenger:

Filipe Luis is an excellent player but surely 25 million for a soon to be 29 year old fullback is a bit too much.

It's great that media doesn't seem to have a clue about who our targets are.

Doing it like we did under Fergie is always better and the surprises it brings, remember that summer when we signed Nani and Anderson?

And Hargreaves and Tevez. Awesome Summer.

Under Moyes I suspect we'd be hearing a lot more about our targets but it seems like LVG has stopped the leaks coming out of the club.

We'll see what happens once he gets back. The deals we're working on are probably still in early stages so the club is keeping quiet.

Which is why I'm not convinced that even targets we've sought to deny interest in are necessarily off the table.
