Barcelona forward Bojan Krkic (23), back from loan at Ajax, could today join English Premier League club Stoke City. [rac1]

Like i say, he's a conundrum. You could make equally valid arguments either way on Kagawa. He and Rooney are extremely marketable though.

I see the conundrum, but i don't understand it, he is a backup option for Mata, he seems to be fine with it but some supporters just want to get rid for the sake of it.

James had as equally a good season as Varela last year.

I don't watch many games, but I've read a lot of people rave about Varela and not much about James tbh.

Personally, I'd be seeing backup players as a low priority as long as we have decent young players capable of filling in if needed. Important thing imo is to get first team players to the club. Then dust ourselves down and evaluate the squad in January. Worst case scenario if Shaw gets a long term injury and James isn't up to it then we can either play Evans on the left. Or we can change formation and play with 3 CB's (assuming that isn't the planned formation in the first place).

There's alot of average players at the club & many have moved on, or retired too:

Vida - gone to Inter
Rio - gone, & to QPR most likely
Evra - could be off to Juve
Giggsy - retired
Young - useless & needs to leave the club
Nani - useless & needs to leave the club
Cleverely - not good enough & should be sold
Fellaini - long-ball target man & not United quality
Hernandez - not good enough
Smalling - not United quality
Anderson - such a waste of talent & needs to be sold

Thats alot of players that are either: gone, going or so shite that they should be gone..

I am surprised that Transfer News Central hasn't been blacklisted yet. They take up every page and they are BS. Skybet didn't even say that.

Yup. All of it is bollocks, I have decided to not actually pay any attention to what anyone writes about United as nobody has a damn clue what we're doing imo. They're all guessing/making shit up.
You don't know that as fact in afraid

Sky bet: TRANSFER ODDS Manchester United look like they are closing in on signing Argentina World Cup star Angel Di Maria. The Real Madrid man is now 4/5 from 6/4 to join the Old Trafford club.

Varela was good, brilliant when you consider the personal troubles he had in the middle of the season. But I feel James was just as impressive and captained the side in the latter part of the season as well.

Reece also has it in him to play in a holding midfield role, I am not saying he should be used there as he has looked good at left back but we all know how LVG likes his versatility. I would expect to see him at some point and I wouldn't be too upset if he were used as our back-up.

That's what they said:

I am not sure Reece James is that good. He is solid like Vermijl but Varela has something extra on him. Maybe he could be backup as a test for a season to a peak Evra who barely missed games, but to a 18 year old Shaw we need someone more reliable.

Liverpool have confirmed Luis Suarez's move to Barcelona. They are not revealing the fee.

I can understand Smalling but I don't see him as being any worse than Jones, dare I say it, I think he's better than Jones at CB.

Thats true alright. We just dont know if both are gonna improve under LvG. We need a top-class CB in & let the rest of them fight for the other spot(s) - depending on whether LvG plays 3 CB's

I think people see him as not good enough for United because he always ends up at RB, where he does a job, but isn't good enough for United. When he plays in his proper position, at CB, he is probably the best CB we have. If he starts playing there consistently, under under LvG, we will get the very best out of him.

He's a fantastic CB!

I've seen Smalling & Jones both play at CB & they dont fill me with any confidence that they'll be the bedrock of the defence anytime soon. I'd love to be proved wrong of course..

Both could up their game greatly under LvG. He'll see for himself when he arrives...

Don't see it, he's not as good as the players in similar positions and hasn't shown anything to warrant sticking with him.

Don't think Smalling should be on your list. And I'd Cleverley another chance.

I agree with ya about Kagawa alright, but he could have it in him under LvG.

As for Cleverely, he's 25 years old in August, so when are we gonna stop calling him a young player with great potential?!

I like the fella, but he needs to show the form he produced as a 2nd half sub in the Community Shield against City. He was superb in that 45mins, but that was 3 years ago & i could be wrong, but he hasnt shown anything near the 45mins of football he played that day since..

Van Gaal will see, if he & Kagawa are the quality that he needs to win the league this season - because thats LvG's objective. That objective is nonsense if we dont get top-class players in - we'll be scrapin for 4th spot at best if we dont..

Liverpool have released a statement saying Luis Suarez is to leave the club for Barcelona. More soon #LFC

Barcelona have clearly told Catalan press different figures than Liverpool have told Merseyside reporters.

I find Kagawa an absolute conundrum. You could easily make a case for him to be given until January for Van Gaal to make a decision on him once and for all, but you could also make a case to say that he just hasn't been good enough over two seasons mitigating circumstances or not. Mata has been at united for 6 months, and in my eyes, been better than Kagawa.

Agree with that.

Kagawa frustrates the hell out of me, then he shows some glimpses of class & then i think he'll push on & be a quality player for us. Then next game & its back to frustration. Its the Nani situation all over again with Kagawa & that lad has turned into a friggin laughing stock..

I'm fuming Suarez is at Barça. I'd rather see Jose manage Barça, and Ronaldo join Barça. This wouldn't have happened in the Laporta era.

Worth noting that Barca will want to make it seem like they paid a relatively low fee for him. Wouldn't be surprised if the true fee is much higher than 57m, similar to how Neymar's true fee was a lot higher than initially reported.

Sky bet have him odds (1.8) on to have Utd as his next club. I think that Sky Bet tweet missed out the words odds on:

Arturo's odds:

Herr Hummels:

Transfer odds mean diddly squat though. Last year Thiago was 1.07 and Toni Kroos was 1.25 on the morning before he had the press conference saying he wasn't joining us.

Indeed. Id be more inclined not to believe what they're saying given the Neymar debacle.

Suárez will be presented on Wednesday. Cant be done at Camp Nou due to punishment so the club will do it in the nearby Auditori 1899

I respectfully disagree, but this isn't really the thread for it.
