If the club were spunking loads of the record revenues on top-class players, then i'd actually give a shite about the marketability of players etc..
I agree, but I couldn't help but notice how a player who's been so inconsistent was from and centre along with Rooney in one of the photos unveiling the new kit.

I've seen Smalling & Jones both play at CB & they dont fill me with any confidence that they'll be the bedrock of the defence anytime soon. I'd love to be proved wrong of course..

When was the last time Smalling had a consistent run at CB? In his breakthrough season he was pretty much Top 3 MotM in every game he played. He was asked to fill in at RB once or twice and never was able to secure the CB position due to injuries to Rafael and fitness of Vidic etc.

We'll see how good Brendan is as a manager now. By far and away the best player he's ever had has now left. His transfer record hasn't been faultless.

Indeed. Id be more inclined not to believe what they're saying given the Neymar debacle.

They're saying 81M EUR on their website. That's £64.3M; not sure where Sport Witness are getting the £57M figure.

It'll eventually leak when they reveal the numbers to FIFA, and in case if they present FIFA with only the 'white' money, then they'll have problems FFP-wise. So I'd rather we never knew.

I think people see him as not good enough for United because he always ends up at RB, where he does a job, but isn't good enough for United. When he plays in his proper position, at CB, he is probably the best CB we have. If he starts playing there consistently, under under LvG, we will get the very best out of him.

He's a fantastic CB!

My sentiments exactly! It's actually very frustrating and absolutely baffling seeing him completely dismissed, especially by United fans.

Apart from his distribution, he's been rather brilliant when played at CB.

Does it really matter if its 60mil of 75mil?

If Liverpool are buying the likes of Bony to replace him its all good.

BBC reporting Suarez fee is closer to £75m.

Liverpool with money can be dangerous for us but what world class players are available? Di Maria and Vidal sure as hell won't join them and they already missed out on Sanchez & Fabregas.

They're supposedly spunking £50m on Markovic, Origi & Bony and already spent £30m+ on Lallana, Can & Lambert

The thing about the players Liverpool are signing, are that they could go either way.
Some could turn out like Coutinho and Sterling, others like Aspas and Aqullani.

When you buy these potentially good players, they don't always work out.
Happens to us a lot: Vidic and Evra / Anderson and Bebe.

When you go for the quality players, they normally pay off, but not always (Veron)

I'm fuming Suarez is at Barça. I'd rather see Jose manage Barça, and Ronaldo join Barça. This wouldn't have happened in the Laporta era.

Ronnie is a Real fan, so there's no chance he would have gone to Barca if he had the choice to go to either - which i believe he did at the time.

Are you a Barca fan too by the way Mitch?

Origi could be another wonder for them, at 19 he really impressed in the World Cup, but of course you can't judge someone on a handful of matches. Not worried in the slightest about Markovic, Bony, Lallana, Can or Lambert though.

Origi's signing is by no means a sure thing for Liverpool. He reportedly has an offer to join Borussia Dortmund so I can't really see him turning Klopp down. It'd be a repeat of the Mkhitaryan fiasco.

Origi will most likely be shipped back to Lille for a season too, I think they're adamant they get that in the deal - and, as above, Dortmund are sniffing around too.

Agree with the rest of the signings, although Markovic could be a very good player - but whether or not he can step it up in the Premier League will be interesting.

As i said man, i'd be delighted to be proved wrong about Smalling.. and Jones also of course!

Goddamn Bobby Charlton coming out with that Jones comparison to Duncan Edwards, a couple of years ago.. Feckin jinxed him!

On ESPN FC a few days ago, Craig Burley facetiously said " Fred is available. Fred is available at a price, not a particularly high price".

He and Lille want him back on loan though. Liverpool are prepared to do that.

..."will be hilarious" is the hope :)

You support United & Barca equally?

Its very rare to do that from these Isles - apart from Celtic & Rangers fans in Ireland of course, where most tend to support an English club aswell..
I used to take following united far too seriously, so I took a massive step back, so I could enjoy watching the premier league again. La Liga isn't so big in Australia, and I don't get so worked up about Barcelona like I did united. Plus, I also believe when Barça's football comes off, it's football played properly like the 5-0 win vs Madrid a few years ago. I also have a soft spot for Ajax.

Will be absolutely gutted if Chelsea get Pogba, if they're even close to pulling it off we might as well give up on Vidal and go for someone else as there is obviously zero chance they will sell both. Bloody Chelsea :(

If the board hand Brenton the full fee from the Suarez sale + their budget for this window, then fair play to them.. Rodgers will have a good chance to improve the obvious areas that are rubbish or damaged i.e. defence & a Gerrard back-up...

Glory-hunting bastard then? ;)

Rumour going around on Twitter is that Zouma is in regular contact with Pogba on Whatsapp and has said he wants to join.

Not sure I agree with that.
