Completely serious, he is getting old and it was very apparent the last 1-2 seasons with Barcelona. To fit him into the team we would have to completely change the style and formation and I'm not sure we have the personnel to play in a system that would get the best out of Xavi. I am of the opinion that completely changing a team to get the max out of a player on the decline for two years or so is a mistake, I would rather build for the future.
I am not saying he is not good enough by any means, despite getting older. He is by far better than anything we have or anything in the league I just don't think it would be a great move for the team as a whole. Your post is condescending which is a bit odd as you probably don't know much about the Sounders or the system they play so to assume you would know better than someone that watches almost every one of their matches is ridiculous.
It would be akin to trying to stick a big powerful midfielder that is not very good technically in for Barcelona at the height of their tiki-taka football, it doesn't mean that player is not good enough it just means he is not a good fit for that system. Surely you can understand that?
