Madness is a 21yo Gotze on the same wage bracket as Ribery and more than the likes of Lahm and Muller (although the latter 2 extended their contracts so they could have moved up a wage bracket)/
Agreed about Lahm, but Gótze is more proven than Muller, despite what you rate their ceilings.. BUt I think they should be on similar also

How did you work that one out?
Gotze has over 100 appearances in the first team of Dortmund/ Munich while he's appeared 30 times for his NT.
Muller has 165 appearances for Bayern and been slightly further capped so it would seem my impression was incorrect... Still with Muller a year older, there isn't a lot between them.

Muller was joint top scorer at the last Worldcup, and a starter for Germany in the Euro 2012 qualifiers as well as in the tournament, where I think Gotze made a few sub appearances.
Muller has also played in 3 champions league finals, and won 1.
Muller is far more experienced and proven than Gotze, who isn't even a nailed on starter at Bayern yet.

They had to offer Gotze higher wages for him to join them and not either stay at Dortmund or go abroad.
Yes I agree. Its the same with Ribery who everyone was after at the time.
My comments are in relation to the fact @AngeloHenriquez said Gotze was more proven than Muller which is of course incorrect.
He's entitled to, and will obviously have an opinion.
Not sure why he's suddenly so keen for the attention though. Picking a fight in the press with an ex-teammate is bizarre, especially when you've tried to keep yourself out of the limelight for your whole career.
Whilst its hardly scathing and a reasonable opinion clearly Rooney was going to be asked to respond.
If you want to be a pundit then fine - but he doesn't strike me as the type. If you want to be a respected coach then controversial sound bytes aren't really necessary.
I'm seeing a lot of comments similar to the bolded one, and I don't get it.
Can you tell me when Scholes has looked to pick a fight? If you look at the sum-total of all his media work this summer, it boils down to about three or four blog posts for Paddy Power. If you read the articles themselves, they're reasonably forthright, but he doesn't say anything particularly scathing - on Rooney, he actually only ventures an opinion that loads of people have down the years: that having played since 16, he may have passed his peak. We all know he's not the best when it comes to conditioning too, so is Scholes' opinion that wild?
If you look at Scholes' first choice side to play Italy, he's even picked Rooney in the central striker position, shunting Sturridge out wide, even though it seems the rest of the country would have it the other way round - why would he be championing Rooney to play in his best and most favoured position if he was looking to pick a fight?
As ever, the media have picked up some reasonably innocuous quotes and shit-stirred for England; or not as the case may be! The easiest thing to do in situations like this is to go to the source article; this way, you can be sure you're not falling hook, line and sinker for the press spin.
I've got to say though, Rooney can shove it up his bollocks - to suggest anyone connected with United could be angry with Scholes is laughable. Rooney is only still at the club because we were desperate.
I'm with you on this one, Scholes is being a bit of a twat. I find it strange that Scholes stayed quiet for virtually his whole playing career and then chose Paddy Power (and their mad cap bantz ) as his method of delivery. Questioning if a former team mate has peaked on the eve of a World Cup (where said player has failed to deliver so far) is hardly constructive and I dont think its all that insightful either.Scholes made a comment, essentially that Rooney was past it - at a time when the press were on Rooney's back, questioning whether he shold be picked. It is evident a comment from a former teammate - especially one who usually doesnt make these comments, is going to be out to Rooney in a press conference, who is then required to respond and can't really say anything other than what he said - i.e. "I dont care what he thinks of me".
He is as entitled to anyone as his opinion, and I dont care what he says and wont criticise the bloke - I suspect Rooney doesnt either. I just find it interesting that a player who kept himself in the shadows as much as was possible in his playing days, rarely doing any sort of interview, chooses to do one before the world cup and make such a potentially controversial comment which is cleary going to be picked up by the media and blown up out of all proportion.
I suspect ex-players have a lot of opinions about teammates or what's going on at clubs or in the national team. He might think Rooney is past it and tell his mates that in conversation - but that's different to saying it to a journalist in ths context. Its naive at best - its not about what you say, its the context in which its said.
As I've said, if he fancies a future as a pundit - its all about having opinions, often the more controversial the better, but he doesnt strike me as the type of bloke who wants to do that. Perhaps I'm wrong and he fancies a media career.

what a shit idea, for someone who resisted goal line tech for so long, he does come up with some really stupid ideas.
It's obvious he is getting set up to be the scape goat for England before a ball is kicked. I'd be defensive also.
He's trying to rally public support after all the nasty stuff about him & the bribes and the sexism and the racism and the...
.
arent we after his brother Hoke?
More rubbish from Tuttosport, I wonder why they keep reporting us and the €25 mill bid. If our bid is not for real, why they keep reporting it in their every article.?
Now I want to know who's his girlfriend!
EDIT: apparently she's Laia Grassi. Worth a google (I honestly didn't know)
Head the shape of a pear drop. 5/10. Would not bang.
Do you work for them or something?https://twitter.com/FourFourTweet were the first to break the news.
Almost fast as when Pep said he wants Thiago in his team. That moved fast. No announcement of an official bid or medical AFAIK just boom and done
