We didnt want him. Whats the panic? Should we sign every player on the market? People are fecking mental

I would. He may move this summer but there aint a chance he's coming here.

The regard in which "fans" hold this club is incredible. Yeah who would sign for us we are like Torquay without the views

Not their fault though, how many times have we missed out on players not based in England? We seem to do well to sign players who ply their trade in the EPL, but once we are out of that zone, it becomes a real problem and it's been like this for years, we haven't really signed anyone of note from outside England since we signed Veron. Chelsea do it with ease. No chance Vidal signs for Manchester United.

he s a cnut but he s right

Chelsea getting their business done early. Surprised that MUFC haven't followed suit. Thought they would have learned lessons of last year

Tell me a time we've went out and signed a plyer of his calibre in front of Madrid and Barca (who incidentally both want Vidal)?

Are we a great club? fecking damn right. Are we willing to spend the same as those two? Not even close.

We weren't even in for fecking Fabregas. We might as well look at every club signing any player and do our dying wicked Witch "oh what a world, what a world" routine. Such drama queens everywhere.

SPOILER:

Other clubs are able to buy players to.

We have targets and we'll be trying to sign them. It doesn't mean we're in for EVERYONE. Players will move to other clubs. I thought this was established?

Admittedly it's a bit harder for us. We don't have CL football, Mourinho is one of the most highly regarded managers in world football and our squad has a bit of catching up to do with Chelsea.

Well apparently we almost had Kroos but a switch in managers meant we no longer wanted him. Same thing apparently happened the year Moyes joined. We had Garay, Strootman and Thiago lined up. He wanted different players. Van Gaal wants different players. Hopefully they're not as shit as Fellaini.

Vidal is the calibre of player where if he did leave, he would be PSG or Real Madrid bound.

Not realistic at all. Pretty much all the richer more attractive clubs in Europe would be hot on his heels if he came available.

I am amazed at how pessimistic our fans are about our chances of signing players. Try being more positive.

I didn't even make any reference to Fabregas, I understand we were not in for him, I don't have a problem with that....but who are we in for and what are the chances of getting them, more often that not we have missed out on them. Don't tell me Fellaini was our top target last summer, I said it in the newbie thread and I'll say it again, for some reasons, we're not very good in the transfer market, either that or we have no interest in any quality players.

I'd imagine Cesc wanted to play in London again, and since his old club allegedly didn't want him back, Mourinho's Chelsea were the logical choice.

We've had to put up with Woodward running his mouth all season about how we've learnt from our mistakes and how we'll do our business early, and how we can attract such world class players. But when it comes to it, other clubs say nothing and just get it done.

Not true, the last four seasons:

Madrid: £139.5m
Barcelona: £119.6m
United: £169.3m

Net

Chelsea and City have looked like the logical choice on many occasions these past few years for the top players. Is it the club itself, Manchester United that is not able to pull this type of weight or is it incompetence in who's responsible for making things happen? We've been poor when compared to our rivals with the quality of players we add to our squad and this is why they reached our level and now have beaten us in quality. Who would have thought that someone would be able to rival us when we had Rooney, Tevez, and Ronaldo up front?

We spend big but we spend the money on our secondary targets while rarely being able to secure the top talent like Hazard and Lucas. That is why we end up bringing in players like Ashley Young and Fellaini.

TBH if Arsenal passed an opportunity to take him back, how can they hate or criticize Cesc?

I wonder who's more hated amongst Arsenal fans, RVP or Cesc?

Would easily be RVP I reckon. Fabregas clearly wanted to go back to Arsenal but Wenger decided not to sign him, whilst RVP went directly from Arsenal to United when Arsenal really needed him.

last year everyone blamed moyes for our farcical summer, slowly slowly it s emerging that he was not the sole culprit. I still hope woody prove me wrong though

Where did Arsenal fans expect him to go? No one wanted him apart from Chelsea.

I think that's nonsense personally. I think his preference was London. Chelsea with their competitive team, manager, money and Champions League made it an easy choice for him. People are ignorant if they think otherwise.

The fans didn't pass up on that opportunity and it'd be the fans who criticise him.

I personally think that he would have chosen either Arsenal or United over Chelsea if he had offers from all three.

Yeah but the point is that the fans should look solely at Wenger and the club rather than blaming Cesc.

To be fair, we'd all but spent £30m on a player after the first day of the window.

Who were the other teams then? Us?

Chelsea or United. Either way they would feel the same.

That showed interest in him? I'd imagine every top club in Europe at that price. At lot of things have to fall into place to get to the point of an official bid though and not least sounding him out through his agent. If his agent makes it clear he already has a destination in mind then they're not going to waste their time following up their interest. I'd bet my house this is the case here.
