If only he had the same mentality towards training as Ronaldo, he'd be a worldbeater.

True enough. If Rooney stayed outside the top echelon clubs for one reason or another I think he'd probably be a stone heavier right now.

It's still subjective, most of the time. One man's dive is another man's 'making the most of contact'. It's all a bit murky. Judgement calls and those open to interpretation are a no-no for technology for me. Afterwards, sure but it's unfair for a ref to be asked to review his decision standing next to a screaming irate manager and 50,000 fans baying for blood if he doesn't award the decision to the home team.

I think the fact refs make the decisions on the spot and on instinct a lot of the time lessens the pressure that would be on him if he had the chance to look again and again at the call in the circumstance outlined.

Since i played Rugby i cant understand that, refereeing is subjective, we have to accept that. But that doesn't mean that we can't help the referee in his decisions, with videos or technology.
If the referee has doubt the TMO can be useful.

Oh yeah, he loves it...

If the ref has doubt, possibly but Blatter was calling for a manager-triggered review.

Although as I said making a snap decision alleviates pressure in many ways. It's easier to just make a call and give a penalty to the away side than it is to have to do the same after spending 3 minutes getting vitriolic abuse by the home fans and bench, hoping to sway you to reverse the decision. I can foresee home advantage really coming through in those situations.

Putting that way you're right and the challenge idea is stupid since you lose a point if you are wrong, we won't count a goal for the opponent.

Football people are savages and can't act properly, specially coaches

Yeah but Rugby is as good an argument for why it shouldn't be used as you can get.

It's a boring enough sport anyway without the constant visits upstairs.

That's your opinion for me it's the best sport invented by Men. ;)

He was probably fed up with his Twitter feed consisting of shite, I'd unfollow all them Southampton fans too. Regardless of where I was playing next season.

 fecking hell people getting upset because someone unfollowed them on twitter.

I will never understand social media and why people get so caught up in it.

Poor Wayne seems to be on the defensive! Seen the bit in the press conference when asked about the criticism and his body language told me he was very uncomfortable. Hope he pulls his finger out n goes prove a point this WC.

It's obvious he is getting set up to be the scape goat for England before a ball is kicked. I'd be defensive also.

Isn't Scholes the man who refused to play once? Not sure how much of moral high ground there is there to be honest.

One indiscretion in an otherwise glittering career. And Scholes admitted fault while he was still playing.

In any case, not sure how Scholes is taking the moral high ground. He ventured an opinion - that Fat Wayne might be past it - which numerous people agree with.

Yeah, he's being proper high and mighty.

Yeah, he's being proper high and mighty.

He's entitled to, and will obviously have an opinion.

Not sure why he's suddenly so keen for the attention though. Picking a fight in the press with an ex-teammate is bizarre, especially when you've tried to keep yourself out of the limelight for your whole career.

Whilst its hardly scathing and a reasonable opinion clearly Rooney was going to be asked to respond.

If you want to be a pundit then fine - but he doesn't strike me as the type. If you want to be a respected coach then controversial sound bytes aren't really necessary.

Why talk about Rooney's quotes in the twitter thread in the transfer forum?

Jesus. All those new posts, I thought a good juicy tweet surfaced.

Unless Rooney's getting sold I have no idea why we would even consider him. He's not better than Van Persie regardless.

True, but he's 4 years younger and less injury prone. But I agree, unless we flog Rooney, this makes no sense.

It tends only to be used when there is serious foul play or a try - but it is a game with natural stoppages anyway, wth scums and lineouts so it doesnt often cause too much of an issue.

Maybe the Sarries vs Touloun final was an exception, but it did not feel like that at all.

To be fair he was injured at the time and getting back to fitness, it's hardly surprising he didn't sprint 50 yards to celebrate a goal when we were already 3 goals up, and harsh to criticise him for it.

Steven Gerrard didn't celebrate when he scored his first against us at Old Trafford this season. Does that mean he's not interested in his team as well?

Is Ozil guaranteed to start for Germany In Brazil?

I'd be tempted to start Kroos or Gotze, Ozil has had a poor season and blighted by injuries

Looks like a good transfer window for Chelsea...

Maybe after World Cup Bayern will sell kroos. I don't believe that van gaal is not intrested.

"In February the German newspaper revealed the club's wage brackets as: €12m Ribery & Gotze - €10m Schweinsteiger & Lahm - €8m Muller & Thiago - €7m Neuer, Alaba, Robben - €6m Martinez & Boateng - €5m van Buyten, Rafinha, Mandzukic - €4.5m Kroos & Pizarro - €3.5m Dante & Badstuber - €2.5m Shaqiri.

Since then several of those players have had pay rises and extensions, despite their contracts lasting far longer than Kroos', which ends next June. Muller and Lahm have been the latest but even Pizarro, bizarrely deemed as worthy as Kroos, has been given a new deal this month.

There seems no logical reason why Bayern Munich won't pay Kroos what Bild and others say he's asking for. It would still be at least €4m less than Gotze, who played a much lesser role last season than Kroos. Why isn't Kroos worth the same as Pep's pet Thiago? And why when Muller, Robben and Lahm demand more do they get it, but not Kroos?

Rather than Kroos agitating to leave Bayern Munich, it's looking like the club are forcing him out. Perhaps, and this is less than half seriously, he's the mole Pep has obsessed over looking for."

Madness that Ribery is on mmore than Robben, Rafinha more than Sahqiri, Thiago more than Neuer... what's up with the world?
Madness is a 21yo Gotze on the same wage bracket as Ribery and more than the likes of Lahm and Muller (although the latter 2 extended their contracts so they could have moved up a wage bracket)/
