Stupid from Scholes. Lingard wasn't given a chance due to fierce competition in any of his favoured positions. He was hit-and-miss out on loan and I honestly don't think he's good enough. He's hardly a precocious talent.

He's entitled to his opinion. But he does seem to be running his mouth off to anyone that will listen.

He's still our Scholsey though. Love him.

Scholes. :( Why didn't he just stay media-shy forever?

Still a lot of time left for Lingard to prove his worth. He's just 21, at a similar age Beckham was on loan to Preston, even Scholes himself wasn't a full first teamer. No need to "slam" the club over it.

Scholes is right.
Lingard looked sharp and should have been given a run in the league, like Januzaj got.
£34 million for Luke Shaw is good value over the potential 10 years with quality, but the only reason it is £34 million instead of £15 million is because he is English.
Still a top talent and a potentially great buy.

Why should Lingard have been given a chance? The competition for places was pretty fierce for our attacking players. Did you catch many Brighton games? He was hit-and-miss, to say the least. He showed nothing to suggest he was / is ready to make any impact for us.

I have no real issue with that Scholes said . Lingard should have had games in the league cup at the very least, and maybe some in the premier league.

I have no problems with the club paying over the odds if the player is good and has potential to be one of the best in the world. Paying huge fees for average squad players is what should be avoided. Real paid way over the top for Bale, but he has improved their attack and I don't think they care too much about what they paid for him now. If Shaw happens to become one of the best full backs in the world, it won't matter to us whether we paid £15m or £35m. If he fails to settle however.....

If we get him it would be quite an incredible transformation to our midfield.. He is the absolute best at what he does in my opinion.

Looks like there's some substance to the Vidal stories. Top player yes, but aren't Herrera and Vidal going to want to play in the same position.

He was hit-and-miss out on loan

True that, although I do think if Brighton has more pace up front he'd have done better, he seemed to play a lot of nice through balls ahead of one of the slowest strikers I've ever seen (Ulloa).

Vidal won't have as much license to bomb forward here as he does at Juventus.
That's probably true, but I'd really go after Luis Gustavo instead of Vidal. Gustavo can play as the holding midfield player, Herrera box to box, Mata as the number 10.

So what Scholes has suddenly turned Anti- United like Keane?

Scholes is my most favourite player ever and have huge respect for him but he needs to shut the feck up or start giving examples of other clubs if he wants to make a point. He knows it was Moyes here last year and now he is gone.

Vidal and Herrera would compliment each other very well and if their is even a sniff of a chance to get Vidal we need to be decisive cause he's a awesome midfielder.

Not sure this has been mentioned but I just read a comment by the editor of United.no (the norwegian supporterclub) and he claims that he was told by an inside source several weeks ago that 2 players had practically been signed (price and personal contract had been agreed) - but he couldn't or wouldn't mention names then. Now he confirms that Shaw was one of these players - but Herrera came out of the blue even for him.

Which means - another player is close to joining United - according to him. And if anyone is IKT - it should be him as he regularly interviews staff and players.

Scholes is turning out to be a right old crank. Singling out Lingard when United have a strong core of English players is a bit cheap in my opinion. Lingard is young and has potential but there's more to it than that. Throwing a player in at the deep end to be at the mercy of the press if it all goes wrong doesn't work. We have a tried and tested process of loaning players out, first to championship, then to the lower end of the Premiership and then introduced to full team - Cleverly and Wellbeck went this way and seem to have gotten a fair shot in the first team.

I dont know if this comes from being Irish and our national league having virtually no direct connection to our international team but is it really United's role to ensure the National team has better players?

Could it be a certain Arsenal defender?

That other player might have been one of Moyes' targets rather than LvG's though, maybe Kroos or Carvahlo.
