Di maria is going to be the signing of the summer, but more importantly for us it needs to be along with another CM signing.

Just like Lucas Silva I think getting in on the ground floor with these young CM's is something we should be doing, instead of waiting until they cost £30-40M.

Exactly, and Rabiot is almost better than Cleverley and the current Fletcher.

Not going to Arsenal then.

He's had an agreement with Juve for a while by all accounts, they just don't want to pay a fee for him. If someone like Arsenal gave PSG what they want now then he'd probably end up there this year instead of Juve in 2015 but they're asking for €25m.

They have Siem de Jong for that, who is probably better and their new marquee signing.

I see, I didn't realize he played as a target man, I thought he was more if an AM.

Possibly. To be honest, I would not be surprised to see him stay for now and us move Cleverley on instead. He's in the last year of his contract and I think Everton would take him (Martinez is a fan from his loan spell with Wigan), so now might be time for us to cash in.

If De Jong and Blind come in to add to Herrera and Carrick I could see both Cleverley and Fellaini going as we know Fletcher wont be.

It will be either Blind or De Jong surely ? Signing both seems strange.

They play their roles differently but both their best positions is as the #6.
That's what I was Thinking. And could be overkill since LVG has his favorite for the DM position in Strootman. It must be on of them (preferably Blind) and VidON.

You do know that Rooney spent a whole year on left wing in our CL winning season?
Rooney had a lot of explosive pace and could leave the quickest fullbacks behind him , something which he's totally lost over the years.

FFS... what's the bloody delay?? It's a work permit. He's an established international who've been living in Europe for a couple of years.

Got a feeling that his ''bottle incident'' that he's waiting to go to trial over has something to do with it.

Absolutely right! You try to say this on this forum though and you're the idiot! It's turning more and more RAWKish every day.
Show me to one post that says our defense and midfield doesn't need fixing.

Is De Jong better than Fletcher and Cleverley is the question. Anyone really think the answer is no?

With Rooney, VP, Mata, Di Maria and Herrera, having a 100% defensive player in there doesn't sound too bad an idea.
Without a doubt, yes. Especially current Fletcher :(

Second line is spot on. Wouldn't mind de Jong at all - as long as it's a short term purchase. (if we can't bring in someone like Vidal).

Would Blind not primarily be a defender and only used as defensive midfielder in an emergency? I thought that would be the case so we'd end up getting both of them.

With De Jong, I think it's fair to say he's a fairly limited player so I can understand why some don't want him. The thing is though that the stuff he can do would greatly improve us, I think he'd be a good signing. Especially if the rumoured £8-£10 million price is true.

Protect the defence and add a bit of steel and nastiness to the side. That sounds good to me.

I think he plays as a defensive midfielder primarly in Ajax...

Blind was used as a LB due to the lack of better alternatives for Holland during the WC, he's seen as an option there due to the fact that he used to play there early on in his career, so he knows how to play the role.
Tho, in the past 2 years Blind has had a MAJOR breakthrough since being moved to DM, he's been arguably the best player in the Eresdivise for 2 seasons now, which culminated with him winning player of the year last season.

Blind was better last season, then Strootman was in his last year at PSV, he was an absolute force and how people continue to under estimate his qualities there are beyond me, really suggests that loads of people here base their opinion on him on his World Cup performances.

Re Blind- it’s the other way around. Primary he is a midfielder, but he can cover LB.

Agreed about the rest.
