De Jong would be more useful than Blind. De Jong is a pure DM and would instantly provide cover for our back 4.

Blind would just be decent cover at LB and CM.
De Jong is almost 30, injury prone and a red card waiting to happen.
Blind would provide cover for 2 positions and is still young.
Having said that we will probably get both if we don't sign Vidal.

De Jong would improve us immensely mate. We need a psycho hacker in the middle of the pitch. We're too tame.

Our defenders would look instantly better if we had someone defensively capable picking up the runners from midfield. That's the type of player we need now.

In an ideal world we'd get Martinez or the like; someone defensively capable but technically superb, there's not many of those types floating about though. De Jong would definitely improve us.

Yup, that's what I'm thinking too. At the moment, all kind of sundry and unheard of opposition players just stroll thru our midfield.

He missed 11 days last season through injury & he's had 1 red card in his career which was 8 years ago.

They do have one advantage, they are familiar with Van Gaal's methods and systems. That could add some stability on the pitch.

This, Blind knows how to play 3 of the roles already, and De Jong would displace all our midfielders bar Herrera.

Sign these 2 and I'll be happy now.

Dream: Vidal and Blind or even just Vidal
Still OK: Blind
Do not want: De Jong
Can I ask why? I think it's be obvious he'd just be a tie-over til next summer when we can make a push for Strootman or somebody similar who isn't attainable at the moment. A cheap, experienced tie-over would be fine by me.

Lol, didn't know that, but most of the time I watch him he is lucky to escape a red card! Should definitely have had a red card in the most important game of his career for example.

I can live with thugs like Ramos or Pepe as they are talented and more often than not have impressive performances against the best sides.

But if such a limited player like De Jong is an accident waiting to happen, then it's too much for me

Is De Jong better than Fletcher and Cleverley is the question. Anyone really think the answer is no?

With Rooney, VP, Mata, Di Maria and Herrera, having a 100% defensive player in there doesn't sound too bad an idea.

I could see Newcastle taking him on loan, a lack of presence in the box has been noticeable in both of their games so far.
They have Siem de Jong for that, who is probably better and their new marquee signing.

There is always something with us, every fecking time. What is it this time?, we don't want to pay a £2mil agent fee?
It was that Madrid had upped their asking price last minute. But far more reputable journalists are saying otherwise. So probably (hopefully) nothing.

Possibly. To be honest, I would not be surprised to see him stay for now and us move Cleverley on instead. He's in the last year of his contract and I think Everton would take him (Martinez is a fan from his loan spell with Wigan), so now might be time for us to cash in.

Let not the truth get in the way of a biase opinion ;)
Just checked and I wasn't that wrong! I clearly remember him missing some games for City in 2011/12. He then missed 6 months (!!!) the following season at Milan.

I am sorry to let you know that Nigel De Jong is not one of those plenty players who interest me that much that I follow them all the time. But from memory I had/have the impression of him fouling a lot and having injuries.

I don't get why work permits take so long, surely there should be a rapid response for football players considering the immense amount of tax the country earns from their wages.

Could be one of the best signings of the summer should we get him for less than 10million.

He'll give the freedom to our attacking players knowing they don't have shit like Cleverley behind them.

Will we see this deal wrapped up today I wonder? If not, surely tomorrow.

No work permit issues please!
