Twitter has rendered Sky's Deadline Day meaningless in recent years. Twitter is first on everything.
Twitter is also full of much more crap and doesn't have Jim White hyping everyone up and a gorgeous lady to talk you through everything. Still. If you're not doing both, you're doing it wrong.

if we did land a real top name it could be very similar to Arsenal last year.

Lost the first game at home, signed Ozil, and the hype and lift it gave everyone galavanised them for a long while.
Until people realised Ozil had pretty much dropped off, and they remembered they always collapse late on

Twitter is full of people claiming knowledge on tonnes of players.

Then by sheer numbers when one does come off, they give it the "told you so, I was right on xxxx player, ignoring that they were wrong on 73 others.

A lot of journalists try to act with authority by playing the opposite game, saying there's nothing in a rumour. That's even more annoying.

Agreed. I would see striking similarities between their signing of Ozil to us signing di Maria. It wouldn't be the signing that is perhaps needed, but it would massively boost the club and confidence of his teammates and elevate our level of performance for the short-term anyway.

Looks set that Khedira and Di Maria will leave, question is where they're headed! For once I hope we jump in and buy some Real rejects after we didnt move on Robben, Sneijder and Ozil!

Easy to say this now, but Robben should have been part of the deal that took Ronaldo to Madrid.

Is there anyone actually interested in Di Maria? I know us and PSG have been linked however PSG have FFP issues. Surely Di Maria wouldn't burn his bridges with Real unless he was sure he had a move lined up?

LvG name dropped him as a world class winger just a few weeks back, add that with now knowing that he is available there's honestly no way we aren't in for him.

Thats what I was hoping. The transfer fee is quite high so I doubt many clubs can either afford him (or need him) so hopefully will clear the way. I would much prefer Vidal as I feel thats a position where we really need a world class player but it would be foolish to dismiss AdM if available

If there ever was an opportunity to sign a great ball winner and a top winger this is it, we need to sign both.

You seriously believe Rooney and the players don't know the who we are signing? Of course they do.
I remember fergie said he asked the players before we signed RVP if he thought he would fit in, and that if it was a good signing.

Somebody like Wayne would probably be the first asked!.

I also remember Rooney asking Fergie to tell him who United are looking at and being told to feck off because it's not his business.

Fergie asked Giggs and Scholes about Van Persie because he wanted to gauge the dressing took opinion on it.

So that Paddy rumour turned out to be a load of bollocks. Just as I said, the players know nothing.

Ah you are probably correct (not saying the guy isn't bullshitting of course) but that's the most likely other player
Yeah, if true I'm struggling to think of another player that would add a significant amount to the value and is also dispensable (in terms of having good cover in his position, he's obviously the bestest player in the world, you tits).

He was way too unreliable with his injury record at the time. He was missing around 4 months off a season. Even in his first Bayern season he was out for long periods but stayed injury free and hit form in the last few months (which was probably the right time to hit form).

Since he's banned I won't post them but Tancredi has an update on Vidal for whatever it might be worth.
Saw that. It's impressive how he knows so much about who was not offered in part exchange but not who was

There seemed to be some optimism on twitter about Di Maria and even Vidal earlier but I come on here and theres barely a ripple
Good, it never ends well when we go into overdrive here. I'm convinced there's a direct correlation between RedCafe transfer excitement and Manchester United concluding said transfer.

I think that player was di Maria. By the sounds of it we've been chasing him since pre season.

These two are prefect for us but just can't see it. Something just isn't right at the moment. We have bucket loads of money in the bank but I really think we've spent this years allocation give or take another 15-20m buy...

I cannot see why we are not going for Arturo Vidal. We have the money and he seems available. I don't believe we would be put off because of his knee.

Yea why worry about a potential career ending injury, lets just spend £50,000,000 plus wages regardless.

I think we got very lucky that psg wasn't able to offload canavi otherwise Di Maria would be a psg player by now.
Our original winger target was Cuadrado IMO.

Career ending injury? He seemed perfectly fine running Chile's midfield at the World Cup.
He was quite clearly far from fully fit, and even in the last week was supposedly applying ice to it, which this long after the operation is not normal.

Knees are fiddly as feck, could be a huge risk.

He was not fine, he looked like a shadow of himself during the WC.
And he was still running the show in games. What would he be like if he was fit. Lots of reports are saying he's fully recovered too.
