If van Gaal believed in him, he wouldn't be loaning him out or selling him now when we're struggling. He isn't a 19 year old kid going out to get experience.

If he's letting him go, even on loan,it's because van Gaal thinks he has no future with us. Just like Nani or Fellaini if he goes on loan.

Or it's a case of Van Gaal telling him he won't be first choice and allowing him to decide whether he wants to stay or not.

Ashley Young should enter the Survivor competition. In fact, they shouldn't even allow him to compete. They should just give him the prize money!

He's one really, really lucky fella.

Nobody is realistically expecting an instant resurrection to a title challenge. All we want to see is progression. in the playing staff, in the style of football etc. LVG will get time, so long as he exceeds the bare minimum of expectations but we need to see improvement, not a title right away.

hate banging on about it but the start of our progression truly is the players at the club, quality in, deadwood out. and once again we have absolutely struggled. im not worried about his implementation of his philosophy, im worried about he quality of player he will have using it.

A tale of two halves. Disagree with the first paragraph, we have challenged for the title every season pretty much for the last 20 odd years bar last year, why is it unrealistic that we shouldnt with a number of quality signings be able to challenge for a title we won only two years ago????....I will answer that myself, because the quality of our first 11 is pretty damn poor, we needed to make 5 or 6 signings really. It doesnt matter how good LVG may be, you can have a great philosophy and manager, you still need quality players in the first eleven, even if every player we have signed so far is a raving success.....we are still short in at least two positions, whatever formation we play

Great player but should never have been allowed onto the pitch with a number 7 shirt on. Someone messed up there. There are unwritten rules.

Yes they messed up bad giving the iconic shirt to one of the most worthy players to have worn it for our club. There are only 3 iconic shirt numbers in football for me and thats: 1 and 10 and for ourselves the number 7....a shirt to be worn by the faithfuls heroe and in terms of leadership, tenacity and sheer talent, for anybody my age he was probably one of our first heroes. Even with his injuries and playing in a gernerally poor Utd side most of his career he is held in great esteem worldwide. In a period where we havent had a midfield general whatsoever it make you realise how lucky we have been with Keane and Ince in our side. And Robson was the best of the lot, baring in mind he was a drinker and in an age without proper sports science and nutrition, imagine what a player and value he would have in todays game? We talk today about false number 9s, Number 10 trequsitas but the number 7 shirt for me was always about special players not positions and Robson was just as good in his role as any of the other greats we have had to wear the shirt....I dont agree with you at all about only attacking players only wearing the shirt, Robson fired the imagination and passion in his own way jsut as much as Cantona, Ronaldo et al. Never been allowed onto the pitch with a number 7...dont make me laugh, every player since Ronaldo hasnt been fit for the shirt more like

Mate, he's a dipper just on a WUM, and if he's not on a WUM he's just incredibly thick as Liverpool were hardly as exclusive when considering positions and shirt numbers, for example Collymore and Heskey both wore number 8 and Smicer wore 7.

He also made this claim on the 18th..

Marcos Rojo will play Manchester United in the next 4 seasons in return for £ 20 million and the transfer of Nani to Sporting Lisbon.

Meh, he's probably a bullshitter. Firstly, he was wrong on both counts. It cost us £16m and Nani to bring Rojo in and he signed a five year deal, not four.

Also, wasn't that rumour/news widespread by the time that tweet was made? Anyone whose anyone picked up on the deal by then.

It was 4+1 I think. But yeah we'll see if he's right or not. Never heard of him and he's probably a real reporter but who knows if his info is right. Could well be.

Khedira - Herrera works well in a 3-5-2 more than in a 4-3-3 or a 4-4-2 Diamond which we will have to switch to with Di Maria.

Well he got it almost spot on when you think about it. The deal was worth £20m. £16m for Rojo and £4m for Nani's wages. The length of contract is the one bit he didn't get right but that detail might have been added later on. I'd say that's a great punt by that guy a full day before it all happened.

The google translate for that tweet goes: "
Marcos Rojo will play Manchester United in the next 4 seasons in return for £ 20 million and the transfer of Nani to Sporting Lisbon."

All he says is that £20m is the payment and Nani part of it, he didn't say that Rojo was worth £20m.

Is 'Pizzatelli' really an Italian surname?

I was trying to think of a 'source' joke then, Ad, but spared you. :D

If we get Sami, they can keep Di Maria...

Fantastic buy and exactly what we need. Will slot in perfectly.

Would love it to happen and would be very happy with it.

As far as Welbeck goes, we are all desperate for him to make it here. I'm one of his biggest fans...But he's like Smalling for me. He's never pushed on to the level that I thought he would...Always wanted him as our number one striker. Maybe I expected too much from him
