If we get Sami, they can keep Di Maria...

Fantastic buy and exactly what we need. Will slot in perfectly.

Would love it to happen and would be very happy with it.

As far as Welbeck goes, we are all desperate for him to make it here. I'm one of his biggest fans...But he's like Smalling for me. He's never pushed on to the level that I thought he would...Always wanted him as our number one striker. Maybe I expected too much from him
No. Just no. I think he'd do well here but he's not amazing defensively or anything or like a world class midfielder. He's very good because of his work rate and energy which makes him useful. He probably wouldn't be expensive either and I'd be all for it. But at the expense of di Maria? Not in a million years.

Beggers cannot be choosers my friend, sadly.

And if the stories of LVG loving Januzaj are true, I can't see him tossing a youngster aside for Di Maria....Maybe I'm wrong

Khedira would fit in well next to Herrera, IMO. I think he's a tad underrated on here, maybe as he's not the fancy type of player. Full of energy, box-to-box midfielder, passing's solid.

Don't think he'd toss him aside, more like play him on the other wing. Januzaj is only 19 anyways, and our 2 top strikers are both a bit injury prone and getting on in age. RvP has maybe this season left at his best, that is if last season was just a one off because of moyes. If not, then he's already been declining and won't be starter for all too long. He's 31 after all, the usual age where players start to decline, especially those who have had his injury problems.

I agree. He has always come across as underrated to me on the Caf.

One of the best players in the world? Or one who might be one of the best in 3-4 years?
Id not be turning the chance down on the off chance!

We do have two wings after all. We could play them both!!

I was one of those underraters until I saw him in the world cup, and was horrified at the talk of 35-40m bids right at the last minute last transfer window!

However, if he's really available for such a knockdown fee, and the alternatives are Fletcher and Cleverley, it's one of the biggest non decisions ever.

Would add some good physicality as well, and not in the Fellaini style way.

Depends on the system really....And don't forget Shaw, if we continue with 3-5-2

I'm sure it's long been accepted that we're only playing this 3-5-2 business to suit the current players.
Di Maria in would change that.

Also, we ditched the 3-5-2 after about 45mins in the first game!

Or maybe, ya know, play them on opposite flanks? I know it's a wild and insane suggestion, but it might just work.

As for beggars can't be choosers... Di Maria and Khedira have both asked to leave and both will refuse to sign any new contract extension. Khedira, I imagine, has lots of suitors and quite a few offers already. But Di Maria only has two clubs with the money to burn and one of those clubs isn't allowed to spend any more. So it's not like Real Madrid have a lot of options.

Who knows though...I actually find it great and refreshing that we are not sticking to the same old now.

For once, I don't know what's gonna happen or what players fit whatever future system. Interesting times

If we're moving away from 352 soon, it wouldn't make much sense to let Nani go for free and sell Welbeck, seeing as we don't have much depth or quality on the wings.

I was well up for the 3-5-2 on the basis that VP, Rooney and Mata would in theory have their best positions.

Then I realised VP was still out.

Then I looked at the "wing backs" and the centre backs, and thought oooh dear, but it's Swansea at home, it's still ok.

It wasn't.

Roll on sunday, where hopefully at least Evans and Rafael/Valencia are back. Along with VP.

So is it Sky Germany or Sky Sports News saying we're leading the Khedira chase?

We do seem to be keener on getting rid before we bring in. Like we're some kind of small budget lower league team balancing the books.

Get the players in, then you can be safe to sell others I'd say! Maybe that's too sensible.

Yeah....Already said that if we stick to 3-5-2, we have to consider Shaw's input to.

No need to be an arse about it

I don't think we'll see Januzaj play much at all as a wing back though, Di Maria is far more suited to that sort of role because of his work rate.

He played there for about 20 minutes or so against Swansea, only because of Lingard's injury, and then LvG switched it up at half time and we went 4-3-3.

That's actually my main concern about any system we play.

Great players etc etc but, the lack of pace that lot have is astounding....And as big a fan as I am of Mata, he hasn't set things alight so far and in his position, he needs to be the one pulling the strings for the front two

Then again, I only see it on matchdays and what the hell do I know?!....I'm not LVG or someone who sees them train day after day

I think Sky Sports Germany said we were his most likely destination, ahead of Munich, and Sky Sports News said we're leading the chase without mention of other teams like Arsenal and Munich. Don't know how reliable SSG are though.

Evans is not available. Nor is Rojo.

With all this talk of who's going, being loaned, how are we doing on the homegrown quota?

Sky Sports News and all their outlets are all the same it seems. They all seem to run stories and rumours that are in the media and the only time they are valid is when they have actual "breaking news" and that's often the same time or just before other sources like the BBC are reporting the same. I don't think any news outlet is hugely reliable any more as they all want the most viewers/hits etc. Social Media has obviously made it all a lot worse and it seems the previously trusted outlets have just jumped on the crazy rumour bandwagon.

This all reminds me of Fergies last Summer window when a trusted reporter on Talk Sport said Sneijder was 100% GUARANTEED to join United. I think that's the day I finally lost faith in any of them. I also think this is why United have changed their approach. After the catastrophe of last year I think United are happy to let the media run wild and deflect attention from their real targets while they sign players under the radar.

I wouldn't want Januzaj playing and still be stuck with Young and Valencia. Rather we had Adnan and Di Maria. The fans need a real boost after last season.

Yup. If United don't sign anyone before that it will be even more compulsive viewing than normal.

I've grown very fond of deadline day over the last few years. As long as it ends well, I'd love for a United related transfer saga to go down to the wire.

Blind may be an underwhelming utility player, but at least he can play. I wouldn't mind seeing him come in.
I think he'd be a good singing too. He's not Vidal, but I feel United need more of a sitting midfield player more so than another box to box type.
