Di Maria is obviously better but even if we got him we'd still need squad depth. As it stands, Januzaj and Welbeck are our two best wingers (in my opinion). I'd far rather sell Young than Welbeck.
If this lad is good enough to be loaned to Real, shouldn't he be good enough to play for us?

So not only have we had a big failure of a summer in bringing players in, we're willing to let one of the our most versatile forwards leave the club? One who offers something very few in the team can? It's so bizarre, but it'd sum us up the past two years perfectly.
Genuinely gutted about this. No chance should we be selling him to Arsenal especially.

I'm not sure. If we were to switch to 433 or 4321 we would only be playing with one out and out striker. Between RVP, Rooney and Wilson I reckon that should be sufficient cover especially as we have no European football this season. If we were stuck Januzaj can also play up there.

Yep. Even if we stick to 3-5-2, there will be 4 players competing for 2 spots up top - Januzaj, Wilson, RvP and Rooney, which is healthy and supports the claims of Van Gaal wanting to work with a smaller group of players. The question is whether we'd be able to score goals if Van Persie or Rooney get injured.
I don't want Welbeck to leave, though. It's strange that Van Gaal is ready to let him go, as I thought he'd be a player Van Gaal would appreciate and improve.
I really hope we aren't serious about letting Welbeck go! Would be a huge huge mistake!

I don't think we will let both Welbeck and Chica leave in the same window, especially if we are going to be playing 2 up top. If one of Welbeck or Chica leaves, then Im guessing Wilson gets promoted which is also good.
It's odd though, I'd have thought Welbeck would play quite regularly this year. Letting good and promising academy players leave just doesn't sound like a United thing to do.

Well this is shitty, hoping for good news when I logged on and instead it looks like Welbeck is off, I can only imagine if both Chich and Danny leave that we are switching to 4-3-3 and in Danny's case he must want to go.
If its true (and it seems so) suggests we wont be playing that system.
Plus I would think he will use Wilson a fair bit.
