No Cl was always going to cause problems as much as people wanted to just laugh it off saying its just one season. With a lot of other problems, no cl just adds up to making things difficult. Woody will prove me wrong though..

The Moyes legacy.
My dislike for him is going to grow hugely over the next ten days with this transfer window and watching a Champions League draw without us in it.

Useless fecking twat has set us back years and got £5 million for it.

Ok, Ladyman. Press is having bit of a field day atm at our expense.
Nothing majorly wrong with what Ladyman has tweeted. History and past success of English clubs means nothing to South Americans. Money and lifestyle is important. I know how city got Toure, Silva etc gets mentioned, but they knew at some point they'd qualify for the Champions League. With United, there's no guarantee they'll be back in Europe next season, more specifically the Champions League.

If we'd got Van Gaal last summer then we would have been favourites for the likes of Fabregas and Sanchez. Moyes cost us big time in every way really. Utter disaster he was.

last time i checked...Rojo would have been playing in the CL next year if he didn't move to us. A player will move if he wants to move as demonstrated by Mr Rojo!

No other big clubs were likely to move for Rojo though, were they? We're as big as it's gonna get for him so we're worth the risk.

Di Maria on the other hand could reasonably expect to walk into most teams on the planet atm. That makes things a bit different.

It's not players like Herrera and Rojo we'll struggle to sign, it's the genuine outstanding elite.

Edit: Except now that I think about it we did struggle to sign Herrera a bit.

I think people were laughing at the #scouselogic that it was the only factor influencing a player and that they could not attract any player and we could attract none, despite them only being able to guarantee 6 group games as a third seed team.

Other big clubs have had absolute horror shows as managerial appointments. They were able to bounce back. I am sure we will as well, this year no less.

Herrera as well.

Shaw could have held off for a CL club as well.

Cope are the most reliable outlet when it comes to Madrid news and what Di Maria wants. They haven't mentioned anything about Di Maria's reluctance to play for United without UCL. All the reliable Journo's in Spain are saying that if United offer the right amount to both Di Maria and Madrid then a deal will happen.

He could but luckily for us the rest of the heavyweights either aren't interested or can't get the deal done because of FFP. PSG are our only rivals for his signature.

If we are prepared to pay up then champions league football is all they have on us (for now). We are a much more prestigious club than they are. We have a chance as long as we don't lowball it.

With him in the side and LVG it's pretty likely we will be back. And English league is still a bigger draw overall than the French league plus Being at United like Real has more global recognition.

PSG may pay more money and have a better City for those culturally inclined though.

Plus the thing is PSG cannot afford him under FFP anyway. If he wants to leave not that much options available tbh.

Cope are in Madrid payroll so they say what the club wants them to say, including the truth at times.

Oooh do be quiet FFS.
If you're going to make an argument in favour of what Ladyman said at least have a half decent one.

City was more than prepared to throw money at it. They signed quality Toure and Silva specifically in 2010 to give themselves the shot in the arm they needed and the quality they needed. Are united prepared to throw money players and clubs to ensure they get the quality like Di Maria? We'll find out soon enough.

Do you know how much we have spent in the last 12 months? I don't think we are afraid to "throw" money around. Everyone knows we can compete money wise, whether its transfer fees or wages. Its just the incompetency of our CEO that is holding most of our deals back and the rest can be attributed to the fact that players don't want to move here because we can't offer UCL football for the next 12 months at least.

Either Herrera and Rojo played for mediocre clubs. Di Maria would move from number one club in the world to number xx with no champions league.. it is a massive difference. Those guys are neither the very top players in that respect..unlike di Maria who was arguably Real Madrid best player last season - logically the best player in the world. Shame we couldnt get him before madrid from Benfica

Manchester United's Chicharito Hernandez is considered by Milan as Balotelli's replacement according to Sky Italy

Didn't Robben play next to RVP up top in the WC? Has this guy seen Di Maria play there before? How he is so confident he will be a hit in that position? Also where does that leave Mata and Rooney? If we get Di Maria, then I hope we revert back to 4-3-3 to get the best out of the team.
