Mata, Herrera Shaw and Rojo

Not going into the Glazer debate again, this is a very well run club and within two or three years this ownership model will become clear why it is so much better than the oil owners hobby club

Why will their ownership model become clear after 11 to 12 years of them actually owning the club?

We had some great success since they took ownership due to having world class players and a world class manager. However since 2009 despite 2 League titles the squad has been declining each year. We have now ended up in this situation which needs rectifying with a lot of expenditure - this should be fine though as the sponsorship growth has continued and Eddy said watch this space!
I'm not a fan of the Glazers but I'm not blaming them for the state we are in squad wise, this is the cumulative effect of many things so unfair to lay blame on just them. However they need to act in a way that makes sure the CEO they appointed fulfills his duties with regards to playing staff. If that means we pay over the odds so be it. One more season without champions league could prove alarming for all our sponsors and we will find it even more difficult next summer to attract players.
I believe it is pivotal to their 'ownership model' continuing to make them loads of money that they need to be investing heavily on the world class talent that is available right now. The Premier league has never been so competitive. We have a worse team now then we did when we won it in 2013. The other teams have become a lot stronger. LvG says he doesn't have a world class winger like Di Maria at his disposal. Ed says we can spend 60, 70, 80m on a player if needs be. Di Maria is available for less than 60m. So what next?

You've put a fair bit of work into that post. Which is crazy as you put it in the wasteland of the twitter thread.

What exactly have they done that is illegal, be careful what you wish for, I want a long lasting continuation of the success of this club, quote me in a few years time when the top three will be us, Arsenal and Liverpool, wait and see...

What did I say WAS illegal? I said should be. How you can buy a football team by effectively taking out a mortgage is ridiculous. They had virtually no capital behind them, waning real estate in the US, and lumped the debt of what they borrowed to buy the club on the club itself.

We both want the same thing - success of the club. We did not need to go through the pain of what we have done since 2005 to have a "continuation of success". Their ownership model has affected us - in such a way that we are even talking about having to spend £200m on the team to stay competitive. No doubt we are through the worst of it (well, until they decide to sell at least), but we are now seeing the impact of their lack of investment.

As Marcos Rojo has medical, we're told Man Utd have yet to make a formal offer for any other player. 12 days to go. #mufc

The ownership model has worked over the past 9 years , 5 titles in that time, combined with SAF leaving at a time when the club needed to invest and appointing a manager completely out of his depth, the harm was done last summer, and it's being put right .
Clearly this club has to have CL football every year for the clubs size, the fans and the owners.
I disagree with us having a worse squad than when we won it in 2013, the two big misses would be Vidic and Evra but they needed replacing and have been to a certain extent
Still believe there will be a 1 or 2 signings before the end of the window, and probably a big one but we have already spent £110m this year and have players emerging like Januzaj
The sooner the memory of last season fades from our minds the better

Rojo has already liked a pic of him and Di Maria with the United crest in the background. Quite the muppet this one is.

I know, but I want to know if Di Maria has started following any of our players on twitter or instagram, or favourited any pictures of him at Old Trafford recently.

Why do they need messi neymar Pedro Suarez and reus?!! Not to mention rafinha coming through the ranks! Barca have well and truly become just like what they've always hated, Real Madrid

What pain have we suffered since 2005 other than last season, Chelsea fans must be in agony.
Don't you think most businesses are bought with loans, guarantees, mortgages. Nothing unusual about that.
So if you bought a house and used the banks money to buy it and then sold it ten years later at 100% profit does that mean you stole the money and gained the profit illegally
The damage was done last summer, not now, and we will rise out of the ashes of last summers mistakes

Will then rot on the bench the following season.

Got to feel for Dortmund fans if that is true. First they had Sahin leave them for Real, then Kagawa left them to join us, then Gotze and then Lewandowski. Kind of have a soft spot for Dortmund and really hope they manage to retain Reus or that he doesn't go to Bayern who have been classless with their constant unsettling comments on Reus.

So its all basically down to Fergie? And the strength of the opposition team had nothing to do with it?

Whatever the Arsenal team they are regular top four side and at its worst not as bad as the team we played on Saturday.

Agent De Gea and Rojo's instagram would be excellent DoFs.

That's typically Bayern Munich and why they are hated in Germany. Always tried to steal the best players from rivals in a cnutish way. They announced Götze 2 days before Dortmunds CL game just because Hoeness tax scandal were all over the news.

He's definitely not on twitter and I don't think he's on instagram either because he cleared something up with a message on his wife/girlfriends instagram page

Simple...they dont have owners like the Glazers syphoning off all the profits.
They also would never waste the money they do have on someone like Fellaini.
But they just spent around 150m Euros this summer didn't they? Surely Reus is going to cost them more than another 40m Euros.

Spot on. Pretty pointless signing. They've got Neymar, Messi, Suarez, Pedro et al all with lots of years ahead, and that's not including their supposedly brilliant cantera with players who could break out from there.

Like RedDF said, they're turning into Real Madrid.

I read a few days ago that he already was. Sorry for throwing this concrete information into some doubt.

Crap!

Right, look out for instagrams from her then.

:D

They have been spending a considerable amount of money in recent years but you can't say they have been prudent in the transfer market. Ibrahimovic, Chygrinsky, Caceres and now the dubious transfers of Mathieu and Vermaelan. They haven't been great in the transfer window in recent years.

They have had their fair share of flops. They paid around £40 million plus Eto for Ibrahimovic and Dmytro Chygrynskiy for £20 million in the last 5 years. Both players had left the club within 12 months of joining.

Edit: JB beat me to it.

Normally you'd laugh but Rojo's instagram has been one of the most accurate sources this summer.
It's just great that some of the lads on here figured out he started following our players and then all of a sudden we bid.
