I think we are after a sort of Carrick type player who is a better passer and can screen from deep unless we get someone of the quality of Vidal.

Khedira would be good as well, but neither here nor there. As Wenger said he is best as Box to Box but at the same time not that great in terms of his all round package though he is a effective watter carrier type player.
 
Didn't we make a deadline day bid for Khedira last season? Something like £40 million? One year on and he's available for £8 million, incredible.

€40m, but yeah, it's insane.
 
Problem with Khedira is that he really isnt a DM. He's box to box. A good one. Not great but still good enough. Whether he would work alongside Herrera though I don't know. If we risk sth like that I'd rather have Vidal who is twice as good at everything he does.
Wouldnt mind him though. Better than what we have.

Logic would dictate that we've been negotiating for Vidal in that position. Also, we're supposedly trying to get a more renowned Madrid player in the form of Di Maria, so getting Khedira would be a hard negotiating position.

I just hope to all the gods above that we get Vidal. Don't care for anyone else. No one comes close.
 
I wouldn't rule out a deadline day bid for Khedira anyway. Real appear desperate to sell, it's quite something he's yet to be purchased.

I agree, he would be a decent signing. And would be relatively cheap I should think, didn't Madrid pay £12 Million for him or something stupid like that? I remember being extremely impressed with him during the World Cup.
 
A double-deal with Madrid would be the sort of headline-grabbing sensational cobblers Woodward would appreciate.

I'm not buying the Vidal stuff. As for khedira, it's an easy deal to do. PSG will get di Maria - it's abundantly obvious.

This pretty much. If we have to take the risk of playing 2 Box to box type players then should be someone of Vidal like quality.

Plus Khedira wants massive wages which put off other suitors. Real are now forcing him out pretty much.

I'm not so sure... If he was going to end up at PSG, he would have a while ago. This loan move with an option to buy has been mooted for a while now. If it was seriously going to go ahead, it would have by now. Chances are he might end up there, but if PSG knew we were sniffing around, surely they'd have wrapped this up a lot sooner.

Like you said, while it's all well and good haggling, it only serves draw out the process and give other clubs the chance to sneak in. Get it done and dusted.

Its nice that we've finally actually bought players where it was blatantly obvious we needed them instead of persisting with strikers and #10's. We obviously need more in midfield but at least we aren't wasting money like we have been the last few years
 
Iturraspe is amazing, could very well be the better CM out of him and Herrera but Bayern Munich won't pay his fee simple as it is.

I just don't get it either. It's simple: the sooner we can sign someone like him by any means, the sooner we can get rid of more dross (like Cleverley) instead of signing stupid contract extensions.
 
Contrary to what people think, Khedira isnt actually a DM either. I think we could do with a true DM...
