He is a pretty similar type of player to Khedira actually. Schneiderlin another one.

Sven Bender is a pure destroyer in front of the back four but Lars Bender in comparison does offer more going forward compared to his brother but his defensive game is top notch and would be brilliant for us from deep.
Marca are not reporting that story from what I can tell, seems like a Twitter invention.
He would become a limited destroyer who plays it simple if played deep. Not sure if he has the discipline either.
Along with that what we also need is passing ability from deep. A screener who can pass well (Carrick sort of player).

Lars Bender in my opinion definitely has the discipline and tactical know how to be a fantastic player for us. He's also very mobile.

Hmmm....What's interesting about that is, our defence of Smalling, Jones and Evans were just as shit then, as they are now.
I've seen this, don't forget Arsenal fielded a largely average and typically spineless side that day. It was a freak result anyway.
