There's no nationality in the world that you can attach to the words "Gareth Barry" that will conjure up an image of a good footballer. Advocaat should've known better.

Strootman is kind of a legend here. Hardly anyone has seen him as PSV don't play CL football these days and he didn't play for Holland at Euro 2012 but it seems that everyone has an opinion somehow. Mostly it's that he'll be an amazing buy.

The Strootman transfer really is one of the oddest things I've seen on here. No one has yet to come up with a solid, convincing argument on why he'll be good for us(besides him captaining the NT team so young)
But yet his name seems to come up a lot as a player people want. Weird. Midfielder desperation I guess He's getting more coverage on redcafe than here in Holland.
I've watched maybe 2 PSV games this season. The word that springs to mind is 'composure' he's very assured and steady on the ball.

He's a bit meh, from what I've seen. That said, the Gareth Barry quotes are being taken out of context. Advocaat was saying that Strootman was definitely good enough to play for a top English team, and what he meant about Barry was that if he can get into City's team, Strootman definitely can. The tone of the comparison was meant to suggest that Strootman is much better than Barry.

Porto are probably only getting a portion of Rodriguez' transfer fee anyway, but I believe they bought back all of Moutinho's rights over the last year so they didn't have to worry about a part-owner getting pissed over the €1m fee, if it's true.
