No Moyes! Don't let Fergie choose your transfer targets, you go out and buy that Cm that we need.

We really don't need another centre back.............do we?

I wouldn't think so - the only real issue with the five senior centre-backs we have is in terms of fitness, but we should have the numbers to be able to focus on other areas. Also Michael Keane must be pretty close to getting some quality time in the first team (either that or another loan move).

I can't really see the need for another centre-back, but then again I couldn't understand the reasoning behind not signing a central-midfielder for six seasons so what do I know

Thank feck we didn't get Mourinho. I'd rather peel my eyeballs out than watch him running around our midfield.

LOL, seconded:lol:

that would be like a downgrade to barry esque levels and not an upgrade from Carrick.

Ugh, it would be even worse than Barry, if such a thing can exist, because at least Barry sometimes sort of slips out of games and you stop noticing him. Khedira spends 90 minutes charging around, forcing his own ineptitude upon you.

Would be a fantastic signing, would not need to move Evra on either as Luke Shaw won't be starting every game at that young age for us.

Luke Shaw actually could be a brilliant signing for us. I don't really see Buttner as the answer, and Fabio can play right back as well. We could have Rafael, Evra, Shaw and Fabio as our full backs comfortably I think, with Buttner maybe offering cover for the left wing.

He's an ex Chelsea kid, I know, but their poor record of bringing through young kids (they've already let him go afterall) might mean if he gets a choice he'd maybe think he would have a better chance of making it here.

The article claims Moyes was looking at Shaw as an eventual replacement for Baines so the thinking would be the same here just as a replacement for Evra. I'd love it if we got him. I'd just use Fabio as a backup right back and have Shaw and Evra for left back.

I must add that The Telegraph reported this morning, in quite a detailed article, that Shaw has turned down Chelsea and that he is on the verge of signing a 5 year deal at Southampton.

 OR he could take Baines with him who is only 28

I agree with this, especially with Jones' versatility.

Well yeah, I'm just saying if the part about Moyes wanting to bring Shaw in to eventually replace Baines at Everton is true the same logic could apply to United. It would certainly be a cheaper and more long term solution than buying Baines.

I kind of hope this is true to be honest. As pleased as I'd be to get him, would restore my faith in footballers a little if he stayed there another few years out of loyalty and a desire to carry on improving himself by playing first team football.

The Sunday Times had Shaw moving to Chelsea for £10 million, along with "Brazilian wonderkid - Wallace" (Who??)

They've already signed Wallace, was done in December but he stayed with Fluminense until the end of the season.
