More or less I suppose. However, the resurgence of the cantera is a recent phenomena where the starting XI is dominated by La Masia or Catalan players.
Some of the key defenders & midfielders over the last decade: De Boer, Reiziger, Cocu, Zenden, Figo, Riquelme.
But it's true, the forwards have largely been foreign players over the years
Gotcha, I thought I might have been overestimating with the other areas a bit about the quota of Spanish/Catalan players, but it was the forward trident that I was sure were always foreign, Pedro and Villa are the only two I can think of up front that are Spanish in the last decade at least.
My first reaction was 'why would Moyes need to buy strikers from Everton? He's already the manager there'. This whole new manager thing is going to take some getting used to.
I know what you mean, I keep having conversations where I need to correct myself as I keep forgetting Fergie is no longer our manager.
