This is almost definitely just bollox, isn't it.

Manchester United are preparing to announce massive news either tomorrow or this week. Telegraph claiming it's Ferguson retiring

A few saying it's not true. They're saying Moyes is coming in as an understudy/assistant manager.

Hrm, doesn't quite mesh with the quotes in their article from the man himself, just on Sunday.

Could be a page views play.

Lets just hope its all bullshit, but every since that loss to Real Madrid, in the back of my mind I thought this might be his last year...not being able to even do an interview because he was absolutely shattered by the defeat; that's not like Sir Alex. With that performance by the official, he is usually more then willing to air his grievances

Lets hope its all bullshit...this is actually making me quite nervous.

I would absolutely take that. Fergie as the manager and Moyes as Assistant? That'd be such a huge upgrade on the current system.

I don't doubt Fergie can still get the team up for matches and build a squad, but tactically and substitionally (totally a word) he's been woeful for 2 seasons.

Ferguson said: "This team of champions is not going away - we are here for the long ride.
"We will get better and if we apply ourselves in our normal fashion, I see our 20th league title as nothing but the start of another decade of success.
“Whether I will be here to oversee another decade of success remains to be seen, but I certainly don't have any plans at the moment to walk away from what I believe will be something special and worth being around to see.”

@davekidd_people 51s

There's been very strong talk that Ferguson would have gone last May but for Aguero's winner. This could have some serious legs

I fear the worst. I get the feeling he'll call it. He'll be ending it on a high.

I'm just going to sleep now, chances are I'll be crying into my pillows first though.

Shit.

He's having a hip operation this summer right?! Is this a sign that his body needs a rest and he's calling it quits?!

Aye exactly what iv been thinking. Last summer he missed some pre season games, this summer he's having an operation. I hope to feck it's not true.

Do you really think United would be stupid enough to let SAF go and hire Moyes?! That would be like letting Ronaldo go and signing Valencia.... Oh wait... Shit.

I'd be comfortable saying he's not going , yet.

And this was just posted - (possibly because of his hip operation.

Strong rumours that Fergie will not go on summer tour and that Moyes will take charge of the 1st team until Fergie returns at end of August.

Ok I'm massively shitting it now.

Why? I highely doubt he's leaving when he said that quote a day or two ago. And it'd makes sense to bring Moyes in a year before if he was going to replace him. I'd be willing to bet he's just taking a break during the summer for his hip.

Can't see journos pushing the boat out this far without being fairly sure

They've come out with rubbish stories about Rooney leaving as well which was covered by the entire media and then rubbish some hours later by the club and player. They've been known to come out with nonsense.

Can't see journos pushing the boat out this far without being fairly sure

Maybe they misinterpreted a statement and have taken it further than it was meant to (a source saying Moyes taking over for a period while SAF recovers, and they see it as a lie in that he's resigning)

Like Spoony's "Kaka to United" thread?

There could be something behind it, but from the way he has talked, I find it heard to believe he would leave on his own accord and call time on his career with us when he is still up for it and fighting fit to the eye.

Because they haven't done it before have they?

I call bullshit until we've heard anything from a proper source. I can't imagine him doing one yet.

The thing is that there's been no denial from the club according to the Mail article and Telegraph article. This rumor could/would have some negative effect on Club's shares, so wouldn't it make sense to stop them with a denial?

I would've thought so myself. Anyway, apparently there's rumours of an announcement at 23:00. If there's nothing then I think it's safe to go to bed, tonight anyway.

Mourinho or Klopp. If it were the case that they were available then it would be criminal to employ Moyes who has won nothing.

I'll settle for that being the major news story from OT vs SAF retiring.
