I'm guessing that Ribeiro cares as much for his client as Lucius Sweet did for his...

Ribeiro: "Better to be quiet from all parties, leave Lucas to play the Olympics and be quiet. I'm going to England to watch Brazil"

Ribeiro: "Every day the newspapers put Lucas in Manchester, in Spain, and it is harming him."

Sweet irony.

Hopefully this means that SAF has told him to keep these negotiations out of the press.

I'm sure United scouts would have watched him a lot more, but based on the few Youtube videos, Cirigliano does not look impressive at all.

@Pitacodogringo (alleged Football commentator for TV Globo in Brazil)

Vice president of football João Paulo Jesus Lopes says Lucas Moura has repeated his desire to stay at São Paulo

Cocks in.

Lucas Moura agent: "I can't see any European club capable of offering the same as United offered for Lucas."

Bloody hell this never ends.

Sao Paulo are fecking stupid, what they were holding out for? £40m?

SaoPauloNewsEng

This evening Sao Paulo have been given a third offer from #MUFC for Lucas Moura ;) #AquiVamosNós

Lucas Moura agent: "I can't see any European club capable of offering the same as United offered for Lucas."

Wasn't this twat just saying that we weren't going to get him? What a load of shit this transfer is turning out to be.

What is Aqui vamos nos anyway?

Can't find anything about it.

Wow I read it as that being the source though.

It means like here we go.. I knew that.

As much as all agents are terrible people, I think Moura's agent's comments about us not offering any higher doesnt mean that we should offer higher... It just means Sao Paulo werent accepting what we had suggested.

Its quite possible that his agent thinks we're offering more than enough but he doesnt decide whether Sao Paulo accept the offer

Agent Wagner Ribeiro says Lucas Moura has told him to keep talking to #MUFC. -Radio Globo, via @Pitacodogringo

http://pitacodogringo.wordpress.com...s-agent-to-keep-talking-to-manchester-united/

The claims and counter-claims coming from São Paulo FC and from Lucas Moura’s agent, Wagner Ribeiro, have created a tangled web surrounding the possible transfer of the player to Manchester United.
Both club and agent have said that Moura is happy at São Paulo. But on Tuesday evening, Ribeiro told Rádio Globo that the player had instructed him to keep talking to United. “My boss is the player. I always talk to him. The person who determines what I do, and my guidelines, is the player. If he says he does not want to leave Sao Paulo, I wouldn’t even accept an offer. He told me to go ahead when I spoke about the interest of Manchester [United]. It’s a great proposal. If it was something he couldn’t refuse, he would go. But he is also happy in Sao Paulo. [And] if he stays at São Paulo, life goes on” said Ribeiro.

Supposedly he is a commentator for TV Globo in Brazil.

To the Muniain thread! He's De Gea's best friend. Maybe he won't leave us broken hearted...

Would be an exciting signing, but can't really say I'd be disappointed if the move doesn't come off. The money being reported for the kid who so far is just promising, no proven world beater, is huge. We got Ronnie for meager 12m... But 30m for a player we don't really need...hard to be disappointed if it doesn't work out. Best thing about it is we appear to have enough money to actually buy what we need. Hope we do.

That was nearly a decade ago. Times change and so do transfer values.

The great thing about signing a player we don't really need is that SAF obviously thinks he is going to be so good he is worth signing.

Not wishing to pick out one post of many, but a lot of people are of this opinion and I'm not sure it's correct.

Fergie, in his infinite wisdom, has to think ahead, further ahead than we tend to do as supporters. We have no idea if he thinks the attack may be getting stale in the near future, or if Nani is likely to stay beyond the next 2 years or so... all kinds of factors must go into his thinking. It really, honestly, will not be a case of "Well, we need a midfielder, but we can't afford one since I spunked all this money on Lucas."

It doesn't always work, but it is ultimately one of his biggest strengths. A lot of people praise how far ahead Fergie can see in football terms, and use the Class of 92 / Ince+Hughes+Kanchelskis summer of 1995 as an example. Perhaps we should remember that.

I can't fault you one bit there. I'm not really worried that we do not have money to spend (how, I don't know, but it's seems to be there) given that we appear to be willing to dispense with huge cash for attacking midfielders when SAF has already acknowledged that center midfield is a concern (and maybe left-back as well). So, to me, it indicates that we've got the money if the player is there. Still wouldn't be surprised in any way if we actually sign a midfielder (regardless of who else we sign, if any). And when I say we don't need him, I don't mean he wont enhance us, just that we're not desperate for him. So there'd be no heartbreak if he weren't recruited.

Yes, I can agree with that!

And I agree on rest of your post too tbf.

Could be wiht the central midfielder thing that he's got a lot of faith in kids:-

Lingard, Petrucci, Daehli, Januzaj?

He's surprised us before?

Petrucci played deeper last season, but the rest aren't really centre midfielders.
