They'll be a bit more knowledgeable than the average fan in that they may know if their friends are thinking of leaving clubs or whatever but they won't know who their club is trying to sign for the reason Brophs has given.

I remember that huge grin Rooney gave Tevez. Nobodies telling me he didn't know.

He just said he doesn't know. Do you think he's deliberately lying to deceive everyone ?

Deception is a little strong, this isn't a murder case! He is just trying to get people to stop pestering him. I am not saying that he knows the exact stages of the deals but there will be talk around the club of who the serious interests are.

Nah. If the deal is going through and the player has visited the club/training facilities, then our players will probably know about it before anyone else.. But if its at the boardroom level and between Fergie, Gill and the scouts, then I doubt word of that leaks out at all. Papers will get feelers from agents and sometimes the selling club to get interest for their player, but I dont think anyone at our club will confirm anything to the squad.

And I dont think Rio has the balls to go ask Fergie if the rumors are true.

OK then

In the case of Lucas, do we agree that at least Lucas knows about the deal? Lucas is at the Olympics with Rafa, Rafa has already said that he has talked to Lucas about the transfer and do you really think that the other United players haven't asked Rafa for updates?

The point is, football is a closed family with links to most major international footballing nations at most Premier League clubs, word gets around, once clubs start approaching agents then word gets around. All this North Korea perception on transfers that quite a few people seem to have is just nonsense, people talk, they do in all walks of life, it is human nature.

Rumours going around that Madrid are set to sign Witset. Wonder where that leaves Modric.

Good observation. You know your stuff. Off course people in the "inner circle" talk but professional clubs knows that too and keep their cards close to their chest. Apart from our manager, Gill and the owners probably only a few trusted handful knows our intentions in the transfer market. This is what separate a well run business from the others.

Manchester United have made contact with the camp of Chelsea fullback Ashley Cole.

The Sunday Mirror says United have made a check on Cole's Chelsea future. United have been alerted to the fact that the England left-back's contract expires next year.

Cole, despite having less than a year to run on his Blues deal, is yet to hear from Chelsea about a new contract

If Rio for instance knew which players we wanted, it would be a disaster. He can't keep his gob shut on twitter to save his life.

We should offer him 5k less than what he's on at Chelsea. He'll swerve off the road in shock and stay away from us.

He's also a superb left-back but I couldn't see the move ever happening.

 sure i can see ashley cole leaving chelsea to become a back up to evra :wenger:

Insert ice cream related joke here.

David Beckham goes shopping, and sees something interesting in the kitchen department of a large department store. "What's that?" he asks.
"A Thermos flask," replies the assistant. "What does it do?" asks Becks.
The assistant tells him it keeps hot things hot and cold things cold.
Really impressed, Beckham buys one and takes it along to his next training session. "Here, boys, look at this," Beckham says proudly.
"It's a Thermos flask." The lads are impressed. "What does it do?" they ask. "It keeps hot things hot and cold things cold, "says David.
"What have you got in it?" asks Roy Keane.
"Two cups of coffee and a Choc ice," replies David.

;)

Well there's been a few rumblings on twitter regarding Lucas' family coming over to England today, but Marcus Alves is now claiming it:

Marcus Alves ‏@alves_marcus
Lucas Moura's parents arrived in England to follow Brazilian games, but also intend to travel to Manchester and get to know the city

Don't know how reliable he is, but some one who claims to have worked for ESPN & FourFourTwo seems more truthful then anyone else posting it

Lance reports; #Moura's parents George & Fatima Robinson accompanied by 5 family members left Brazil on Sunday for UK. #Olympics

His father is called George Robinson? What sort of a Brazilian name is that? So we're considering signing a brazilian called Luke Robinson, is what this basically comes down to. As we all know that means he might as well be Stewart Downing..

Not really. Still, George Robinson...

With 26% of #GM owned by the US Federal Govt maybe Congress will ask some questions about this #MUFC shirt deal?
