So why haven't we heard from Erdogan?
I'm in the same boat as you mate. Supposed to fly out on the 26th.Please tell me that the rumours are false and that the turkish army is not seriously overthrowing the ****ing governent the one week my fiancéei is on holiday in ****ing Turkey.
If they must have a civil war they can bloody well have it next week.
So why haven't we heard from Erdogan?
Turkey has had four coups (1960, 1971, 1980, and 1997), and democracy was restored after each one, although obviously not immediately. People are cheering it on because they hate Erdogan and recognize that he's taking the country down the shitter. Personally I'm worried about a civil war.
Trying to flee like the coward dog he is. Plus, state media is in the hands of the military now.
Yeah, all the turks on my road are backing Erdogan to a man, probably for the same reason as your exI just asked my turkish ex-girlfriend about it. she said she roots for Erdogan, because she rather wants a semi-democratically elected asshole of a president at helm of the country than sick military bastards that cause a civil war.
Her words, not mine.
Not a reputable source?Tancredi just got quoted on that reddit liveblog. Mental.
I suppose we'll know the outcome if Erdogan goes on TV and claims he's got things under control. If they coup leaders were thick enough to not arrest Erdogan (something you learn in Coup 101) then they deserve to flop.
He'd doing a facetime
Anyone who supports this coup is an idiot and doesn't really believe in democracy
To which country will Erdogan flee if he gets the chance? Who will have him?
Maybe he will get on the phone to his best friend Merkel.
I had a few German jets flying over the tip of trees and shooting at same time blank missiles back when I was in service in Portugal, the sound was terrifying and the sound of the missiles even worse.
No one should be surprised. Army has seen their country being taking further and further away from a secular nation.
Right.Anyone who supports this coup is an idiot and doesn't really believe in democracy
Not a reputable source?
Now they are saying Erdogan is on his way to Germany.
Anyone who supports this coup is an idiot and doesn't really believe in democracy
I hope all of those German comedians are at the airport with poems to welcome him.
Except they didn't really, certainly not in a way that we would associate with actual real democracy.
Civil war or indeed widespread violence is certainly possible when large swathes of the population are disenfranchised and they feel that democracy has been subverted.
Which would be a huge shame. I hope there is as little violence as possible.
Unfortunately she is in Turkey atm.I'm in the same boat as you mate. Supposed to fly out on the 26th.
I hope all of those German comedians are at the airport with poems to welcome him.
Anyone who doesn't support this coup is ignorant of the ideals that modern Turkey was founded upon.
