Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

That transcript is both hilarious and sad at the same time.

R - We must be transparent and let everyone know what's going on by releasing this memo!

D - Shouldn't we let the FBI and DOJ come in and give their input on it?

R - No! They are under investigation.

D - Since when are they under investigation?

R - Well they are. Kinda. Sorta. Maybe.

D - When did the investigations start and why didn't you tell anyone?

R - ..........

D - Have all of you guys seen the underlying information for the memo?

R - One of us has.

D - Then isn't it better to wait a bit and let the FBI and DOJ have their say on what you should release to the public?

R - No!

D - Can our memo that challenges the facts of your memo be released as well?

R - Fine.. But not at the same time as ours! Your memo will have to wait a week because as we said earlier full transparency is extremely important unless we can't control the things that we're being transparent about. Don't you remember our hashtag #releasethememobutonlyourmemo?

D - Why can't we release both memos at the same time?

R - ..........

D - Motion to present both memos at the same time.

R - We vote no!

D - Why?

R - ............

D - We need to release this transcript ASAP so that everyone can see what a clusterf*** this is.

I' d say Zlaatan did a pretty good job summarizing the transcript/exchange. There is just no way Nunes isn't compromised in some kind of way after following all the stunts he pulled. Though of course it is not much less shameful that his party buddies allow it to happen.

Just thinking about this "Deep State", "Secret Society" and "corruption in the intelligence communities" that Nunes has been leading and it has the potential to be a frighteningly effective tactic.

Firstly, they are breaking the trust their support has in the institutions that could bring them to justice. Secondly, they are setting it up to make it very difficult to be investigated. If it turns out that Nunes is a person of interest to the FBI - "BOOM, CONSPIRACY PROVEN, DEEP STATE TRYING TO STOP HIM". How can the FBI Investigate the person investigating them?

I think it will continue to play to the conspiracy nuts that make up Trump's most ardent supporters. But to the rest of the country? While there's increased distrust in the government, at the end of the day, the GOP *are* the government at the moment. How long can you control everything and also claim to be the victim?

Well following that Twitter thread about him and the Armenian gangs importing Iranian stuff, it would seem so.
Just read that - accidentally clicked on the link going to the article about him returning to CA rather than the Twitter account of the guy you linked. Interesting mention of Romney too which makes it pretty obvious why he s one of the few Republicans who have been consistent in his criticism with regards to the Russians etc. I'm sure not every thing we read that serves the narrative we support is all factual either but holy shit even if half of this stuff is true - did anyone think this type of stuff actually happened in real life.. Or at least be allowed or having the ability to wield its influence within the United States? And yes I know dirty politics and shady business practices have been around for a long time but either this had been going on for a very long time and we re just now learning about all of it - or this truly is some next level shit. If we re talking "Deep State" I'd be thinking along the lines of what Nunes is seemingly involved in. Someone clearly will to go around every check and balance in the system.

In fairness the F.B.I literally has murdered people in secret

Well this is going to get really ugly fast now isn't it. If it wasn't already. Sad thing is that I believe Ryan and McConnell probably will find a way to wash their hands clean of this.

Seems this is at the tipping point of getting real dark, real fast. House Republicans surely have to consider whether or not they want to be so closely associated with something that come election day will either see them each painted as someone too corrupt to care or too stupid to know.

Anyone read this before? I think I remember seeing it at the time but forgot to read it. I’m not sure if it’s been verified but it’s an eye opener if true.

Basically domains belonging to the Trump campaign (as of Oct 17) have shadow subdomains which are hosted on in Russia a server WikiLeaks also uses for a domain it registered pretty close to the time the Podesta emails were stolen.

It’s an interesting read nonetheless.

Just skimmed through the article so not sure: what would the strategic reason be to wire that stuff through Russia, why would they've done that?

It could have been hijacked by hackers who have been using that channel for whatever reason, bots pinging out spam for example. The link to Wikileaks is interesting though. It could have been used as a back channel of communication or could have been WikiLeaks (Russia) who hacked it in the first place.

I'm not sure the contents of the actual memo matters at all at this point. Trump can not release because it's a dud and then the conspiracy factory will go into overdrive and say he was quieted by the Deep State. He could release it and the spin machine is already chugging. "What did Rosenstein know?? What didn't he know?? FISA! Spying on Americans! etc etc" The hope is that sanity and logic overcome partisan stupidity but we all know the likelihood of that.

If there’s one thing that been quite pleasing so far it’s that, outside of the batshit crazy far right echo chamber and the Russian bots posting memes, none of these attempts at smearing the FBI and Mueller have stuck.

So is the memo supposed to come out today or there isnt any timeline to it?

That's mostly because it's the left that thinks the FBI is the boogeyman. So when they are the ones that are sticking up for the FBI it goes to show how much of a complete waste of time this tactic by the Rs is

Yeah agreed. The drama that has been whipped up surrounding the circumstances of its release are now far bigger than any substantive value to memo could have.

So is the memo supposed to come out today or there isnt any timeline to it?

He’ll make the decision today and it’ll then be passed on to another body to handle the publication. Possibly back to Nunes I think and they might do some redacting.

Looking like this memo will turn out to be another Nunes dud. May help to muddy the waters or may not.

The granny killing little feck is just covering his ass. He's defending Nunes, giving the memo legitimacy yet still trying to leave himself enough wiggle room to not get burned when it's shown to be a ridiculous waste of time.

That's exactly what it sounds like. He probably even told Trump and/or Nunes- look I'm gonna make these statements sometimes to make it seem like the Republican party gives a shit but you know we really don't.

I didn’t think the headline gave a very good account of his words.

My take from it was Ryan playing down the idea that the report is being leaked for political impact. He’s happy to do that because the memo will do whatever damage it’s going to do regardless of how he frames it.

Ooush that’s a blow.
