Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

Very interesting. Wonder if adding a cyber specialist has anything to do with pursuing a specific cyber direction.

Emails, perhaps?:smirk:

Would be quite fitting if that was what brought Trump down eventually...

More likely they are looking closer into Cambridge Analytica, Kushner, and the remarkable accuracy of Russian troll campaigns in MI, WI, and PA.

If Trump goes then Mike Pence becomes The President. Democrats will never get it unless they win the next election.

Suppose it depends on how heavily implicated Pence during the investigation. He's kept a low-profile but could know more than he's letting on.

I doubt Pence will have any culpability. I hear he has even resorted to leaving the room when Trump has started talking about Comey, the FBI, the Russia investigation and all that. He is basically a clock watcher waiting to cash in on the inevitable.

We know Trump will be vocal in critiquing any future President's he lives to see, which would be interesting in the event of impeachment and Pence being sworn in. Why is it I feel like Trump would try and throw him under the bus...via Twitter?

Didn't we have similar the other day, meeting with Paul Ryan and it was about funding? Just trying to stay centered.

We knew what that meeting was about quickly afterwards. Warner was being shifty when he was asked about this meeting and he had no reason to behave like that if this was just a standard meeting.

Also interesting that Nunes was absent from the meeting with Schiff.

New reports say that Nunes has subpoenaed Wray, Rosenstein, Burr, Warner and Schiff because nobody will tell him what is going on.

@Ubik these two tweets in the long thread basically summed it up.

And Chuck Grassley wasn't even thought of as particularly nutty by contemporary GOP standards, but sure, these are the guys we should find a common ground with.

Yeah that was my take on it as well, I mean we already knew they were trying to sweep it all under the carpet but to be quite so brazen about it is almost impressive in its bellendery.

Depends on how trustworthy you find the accounts in Wolff's book. If I recall correctly, Bannon makes it sound like Pence may well be on the hook, and have attended some of those questionable meetings.

A Democrat probably woudn't pardon him (although its not as crazy a possibility as it sounds), but a Republican almost certainly would. The US elevates the office of President ridiculousy highly, and more importantly none of the establisment want a precedent of Presidents going to jail for crimes. They also tend to fall back on a desire (I've never been able to work out if its real or just bullshit) to 'heal the wounds' and 'fix the partisan divide' by finding soft ways out.

Wonder if the current living former presidents, the congressional budget people, and the Secret Service may decide they don't want to deal with his circus act the remainder of his life, and if they could have any influence in a non-pardon. Look at how much this clown costs the taxpayers (while enriching himself) for every fecking trip he takes to a golf course/property that he owns.

Will his children be covered by the same costs after he's out of office?

Cheapest and fairest option. Dress him and his family in orange.

Wow Bannon the first to be subpoenaed. I didn't think Bannon would be the first up but I guess Bannon's comments in the fire and fury book has put him in the limelight here. Will be interesting to see how/if Trump responds to this. I had a feeling we were going to see some big news today after his tweets this morning.

Also, this a good read.
