Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

Trump's team put a guy in charge of an agency that Mueller would eventually request emails from, meaning he'd reject Mueller when the request inevitably came. Problem is, the guy in charge died, and Trump's team, although they were obviously aware he'd passed away, just assumed he'd stored the emails beyond reach. He hadn't, the agency handed over the emails without any issues, and Mueller then surprised Kushner and team Trump in general when he referred to the emails, completely catching them off guard and leaving them shitting themselves.

Who says dead man cant talk!

From another board:
Current rumor is that Trump will (try to) fire Mueller in a speech on the 22nd (e.g. Friday). One of the people providing that rumor is a congressperson in a news interview

Interesting response from The Orange One..

So he's not firing Mueller means he knows he can't. Also the interesting quotes here are Trump saying it was "not looking good" and his people were "very upset" and "I can't imagine there's anything on them"

Sounds to me like his language is changing, is quite ambiguous in tone, and there's a hint that he's distancing himself from those who are possibly implicated.

Or it could all just be wishful thinking on my part

Thing is though even he himself colluded with russians somehow, it will be hard to prove. People around would have done it and people around him would have to go to jail or something for that and it has been showed that way.

He will keep distancing himself from them and probably nothing will happen to him especially as long as GOP controls the house for next 3 years.

The GOP got their tax bill so the brown nosing might be over apart from the extremists.

I think it will depend heavily on how they do in midterm elections. If they do well or keep the seats as many as now, they will let him whatever they want him to be.

Problem is no one knows how dem will do in 2018.

GOP tax can actually make their base stand with them solid, come out in numbers and vote for them next year and the clown show probably keep going on for awhile. Which is a terrifying prospect.

Nah, they want to destroy welfare next. Can't have all those poor people able to eat, have a roof over their heads, and get their illnesses cured. They might vote Democrat.

I think he's terrified of the rats leaving the sinking ship. If they get a whiff of defeat from him, they will look to save their own asses and his support within the party will disappear.

The die has been cast now though. FBI are against Trump, Fox are loud enough and his supporters loud enough too.

The senior FBI guy who sent these texts is an idiot. He spends decades busting a gut at the FBI to rise through the ranks and he then goes and does this.

All that talent and hard work now gone down the drain and he'll spend the rest of his FBI career at the HR department.

In any other context, I wouldn't consider Trump to be much of an asset!

The word 'asset' and Trump somehow, just seems alien.

Oh sheeet. I’d seen the rumours he was planning to sack Mueller as the house and Senate go on their holidays. I hope this is them confirming that if he is sacked he will be rehired in a position out of Trumps hands.

I wonder if they are doing a deal with Trump where he fires Mueller and they rehire him with a greatly reduced scope under their watchful eye.

That's a different matter and wouldn't be done in concert with a Mark Warner speech. Warner is likely going to complain about the Republicans are attempting to rush the Senate and House investigations because they want to shut them down before the start of the new year (as in Trump can enjoy his tax bill passing without having continued congressional investigations dragging down his poll numbers as he enters the new year).
