I think they estimated 12 hours in anticipation of all the rambling Trump will he doing. Not 12 hours worth of questions.
2-3 hours is nothing for Trump. He could just ramble endlessly about various things and Mueller wouldn't get any viable answers. They will probably compromise on about 6 hours or so.
In his mind, he’ll probably think he’d be filibustering Mueller.

I really can’t help but think that a big part of the reason Giuliani has been brought in and is being so vocal on Trumps behalf is to give him attorney client privilege. It’s been about 20 years since he was last practicing.

On Fox Friends with four presenters on his side trying to steer him away from trouble he couldn’t help himself.
Imagine him with a couple of razor sharp interrogators knowing every trick in the book, already profiled him, already know his pressure points and already know all the answers. Without exaggerating, I genuinely think he would incriminate himself and perjure himself dozens of times each hour.
I don't think it's as simple as that. Given the things that are speculated about Trumps nature the Fox and Friends call seems to be the result of impulsive action so there is imo very little that can be drawn from that with respect to the contemplated interview.
As things stand it's likely that the questions will be shared with Trump before so there is not much trickery Muellers people can do since everything off script will be blocked by Trumps legal team. Trump obviously will get prepped heavily for every answer, thing is: does he have the discipline to follow through?
Personally I don't think he has that bad a chance, I'll give him at least 50/50 - still really bad odds, but far from a suicide mission. Trumps legal team wouldn't be waging the idea otherwise too.
The entire point of getting him to the table is because they won’t accept prepared answers. If they would, they’d have agreed to a written submission months ago.
If Trump comes to the table it’s because they want to open dialog. Let him answer with a prepared statement and then catch him off guard with a follow up question.
Does he have the discipline for it? No, he absolutely does not.
His lawyers can coach him all they like and explain the seriousness of the situation to him and implore him to parrot a prepared answer and follow up with no comment but he just won’t be able to resist it. They’ll poke his ego, challenge his authority, belittle his achievements as a businessman, challenge him to outwit them and he won’t stand a chance. They’ll tie him in knots.
Trump is destined to say something incriminating or lose his shit. That's what I'm expecting anyway...

He is at the center of two major controversies over the past 18 hours - both of which are working against Trump. If this trend continues, he will at some point reveal something that breaks the case. Also, Emmet Flood, Trump's new lawyer, won't tolerate this sort of kneejerk freelancing from Rudy.
